I am looking at buying some Recaro's for the Stagea s/hand

I have a few different cloth trims to choose from

What are thoughts?

I really like the 3rd pair in from left. Id never ONCE even given seats a thought until I saw this thread, saw them, relooked, looked again, and again, and again. Now, I gotta say, I want those seats in my S1 Stagea. They look damn comfy. They look nice. Im now thinking eventually Im going to have to get one nice seat in for me.

I was going to spend some $$ and get my standard seat rails extended and legally certified, but now Im not sure....... how do these types of chairs fit into the Stageas?? sorry a noob question but Ive never been into interiors before. I need more room for my legs and bad knees, I want comfort as well. So how does a nice Recaro get bolted into a Stagea with chair-travel space from rear seat forward (so the wife can still drive it, shes small Im tall)

companies like Recaro and Bride make seat mounts to suit Stagea's

As mention before, Skyline rails suit but are lower than the Stagea ones which may suit you better Brendan if you want my head height

These cost approx $250 each new or $125-160 s/hand

Even SAAS make rails now for R32,R33 and Silvia for about $229 ea at Autobarn.

If you like the red ones

What about a set of Bride

With the Bride's you can buy the matching materail to do the rear seats and door trims aswell

Cheers for that info...... awesome

There's a local place that sells these seats, & does certified engineering works to seat rails as well. I'll definately have to talk to them anyways.

Headheight and leg room is an issue for my tall self and my shorter wife LOL so we gotta get it right!

Id like it so that my drivers seat (Recaro or standard) rail is extended right back to the rear bench seat but yet maintains closeness to steering wheel.

With head room, are Recaro's adjustable, ie seat height adjustment like standard seats?

So, buy a skyline R33 series 2 drivers seat rail, and a comfy chair to suit. Have seat rail extended backwards and fitted, legaly complied. Or buy comfy seat AND seat mounts from Recaro to suit, and alter my standard seat rail.........

Cheers, actually... silly me, I meant 2nd from right. There is that dark pair, nice. But all 4 sets look more comfy then standard, and can be 'used' to when 'using' the car!

What about these Bride's

The beauty of these you can buy the matching material for the rear seat and door trim inserts

The build quality should be as good as the recaro's?

Id like a nice comfy seat - be hard but finding one that'll suit a 2meter tall (and round LOL joke) beast like myself!

Are ADR's something that are important to you? For the sake of a seat I'd prefer something that wouldn't get me defected...

ADR's...not realy

It is normally not a problem in QLD, unlike some other states

What do you suggest?

Note.

I have already bought 2 sets of ADR approved cheaper seats thru Autobarn and others, but have decided they are all crap compared to the Recaro or Brides

If you're going with reclinables, I'd stick with the Recaro's. They're proven to be a great seat (Evo's, not to mention all of the special edition models over the years - Stageas, Legnums, etc). Not all that cheap though.

I personally would opt for Velo GP90's as I rarely do long distance driving in my cars, and I want to do some track work in my Stagea too. (When everything comes together; i.e. my bank account looks a little better) :)

I have bought some seats

Just have to wait 6-8 weeks to get them from JP

Came with Stagea rails aswell :P

Might have 260RS trim?

Hi Darrin that trim is exactly what Brett has in his car...Series 2 manual :O

  • 2 months later...

Finally got one my Garage Impul seats today. The other one will turn up in the next day or 2.

The trim turned out to be the same as a manual Stagea or 260rs

With a bit of luck I will be getting a matching rear seat tomorrow if I win the auction.

    • Put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Replace the turbos. Probably completely separate issues.
    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
