I've painted a set of wheels myself in the past and they turned out nice but they looked pretty average after about 3 months. You just can't get the same results with a pressure pack can as you can getting a proper job done IMHO. Just got my R32 GT-R wheels done properly by a spray painter and they look like a better job than what I did straight away. Cost was $260 for 4 wheels.

Who did it for you?

Magman?

Who did it for you?

Magman?

Nah, just a spray painter in the Shire near where I live. Trades as "Tynan Smart Repairs" in Kirrawee.

I would say that Magman would be one of the best options but too far away for me.

MY instructions for painting rims....

Go to supercheap, buy 2 cans of black gloss @ $2.99ea

put rims out back of house in sun, wash wheels, cover with black paint, thin coats.

Continue doing this 3-4times

dont bother taping over tyres, they are black anyways

final check before putting them on car, touch up bits you forgot.

Put on car, touch up again

tyre black..

touch up every now and again.... for $2.99 i couldnt care less if i have to touch them up

Ed

ive seen harlequin style paint cans at supercheap, gotta be something similar...

nightshades your rims bro!

Chris if you need a hand man let us know, we do it ultra dodgey style and spray the tyres too! no need for tyre black for a while ;)

hahaha good one Ed :)

thanks for the offer mate!

Its all good - i did them a couple week ago its just now the tyres them selves have gone all Emo on me!

so monday next week im going tyre shopping! :)

  • 4 weeks later...
and by the look of it - it needs to be lowered too :)

It also looks like you need a tripod or some kind of camera stabilisation, too ;)

My wheels are getting repainted at the moment. I'm getting them redone from titanium to a darker gunmetal (hopefully they'll be the same shade as R32 or R34 GT-R rims).

Will post some before and after pics when I get it all back.

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
