Factory Gps System Wires

Recommended Posts

hey all,

my s2 r33 was equipped with the factory option of gps with screen and cd stacker. the guy i purchased it off removed the screen and replaced with a head unit but the cd stacker was left in the boot. There is also a gay a$$ looking antenna stuk to the bottom left of the windscreen which stretches out bout 20cm up the edge of the windscreen and 20cm along the bottom edge.

i wanna start removing some of this stuff to clean up the half a$$ed removal job of the previous owner.

is it ok to just snip the antenna at the bottom of the windscreen where it starts to go into the dash and then just tuck the end in?

could this also be done for all the wires leading to the stacker in the boot? Or are these wires used for any other stuff?

any suggestions would be helpful...

im pretty keen to just snip wires and hide them rather than fully removing the whole thing which seems to look like it would involve removing some interior panels and a lot of eff-a$$ing around.

Cheers

Michael

don't just cut it, if the factory head unit is out then all the wiring will just be loose behind the deck, take the glove box out and the trim behind it and remove the wire and the antenna, all the wiring to the gps unit in the trunk goes through cable trays under the carpet on the left side of the car and is reasonably easy to remove. There is no need to remove it though, other than cosmetics of loose wires behind trim, or the fact that you know that it is messy under there. if you have a phillips head screw driver you can get it all out. (i just wound mine up and cable tied it near the battery in the back!)

    • I'll bite. I no longer own any euro's, but I thought I'd share two of my favorites I owned. My 500hp B5 S4 and my 800HP E55 AMG. Yes I did attempt to drive the E55 in Canadian winters, that lasted all of a month as it was a death trap.
    • To be fair this is the wife’s car. However, I have been accused of owning more cars than I have pairs of undies. Luckily I change my undies more frequently than the cars.
    • Cheers Lads Looking at changing up a few things maybe go 2.8lt, bigger injectors with more a modern Turbo. Possibly transbrake and convert to E85 with Haltech ECU. Any thoughts on those Mods changes or better ideas? Want to try keep the car Street/Strip While also being weekend drivable still.
