Hi guys someone here told me this oil which is used for diesel engines is good to clean out the engine. any comments? also how long do I use it for?? is it safe? was told to do it as it would be cheaper than my other alternative running redline motor oil. Just want to get rid of a annoying ticking sound which i believe is the lifter.

Delvac 1 probably won't clean anything but its worth a shot. Its a great oil and certainly can stand up to Redline. Btw its *perfectly* safe to use in any motor. It has API SL ratings. I've used it with good results!

the only problem with cleaning the motor out is that you can end up with oil leaks. if you engine has a thin layer of crap through it, it may be covering slight cracks or places it can leak out. if you then clean all that crap out the oil can get to those areas. also you run the risk of some of the crap moving from where it was, and ending up somewhere it can do damage.

Yeah but the chances of having crap cleaned out causing leaks and damage is not really related to diesel/synethic oils. Its more applicable to engine flushes like Nulon's etc.

aww I was thinking about running a real good synthetic oil and running nulon lift free to clean up lifters is this a bad thing then is it???
