You would be far better off selling you current car, and buying a turbo R33. The conversion will cost $3500 minimum. And you will still not have the larger brakes, and five stud hubs of the turbo model.

My car started out life as a R32 GTS25 (non turbo RB25DE)... I now have a RB25DET engine, R33 brakes, LSD, new clutch, computer etc, etc - I'd hate to think what it has cost me all up. But the far smarter option would have been, to sell my car and buy a R32 GTR.

i have done this conversion on a few occasions and be done on a shoe string budget. find someone thats selling there stock set-up, turbo, manifold,piping etc, should be able to pick up all parts needed for under $900. do the work yourself and save yourself a few dollar. dont run more than stock boost to be safe.

It cost me a fair bit more than $3500, but for what I've achieved - it's been worth it.

The minimum $3500 I was referring to, was to purchase a RB25det front cut... and get the complete Engine, Loom, Computer, intercooler etc, then drop it in...

I didn't consider slapping a turbo onto the side of my RB25DE, as I wouldn't have been able to gain the power I was after. You'd struggle to make more than 160rwkw safely with the 10:1 compression, on top of that, there are also the limitations of the RB25DE injectors and computer. In my opinion you'd be far better off buying the turbo car, and gaining all the good stuff in one hit, than trying to dodgy up a turbo conversion.

If he sold the R33 GTS for around $12,000 - then purchased a R33 GTS25t for $16,000... He would have gained a RB25DET, loom, computer, intercooler, bigger brakes and wheels, five stud hubs, LSD etc... for $4000.

And you wouldn't have to worry about getting booked by the cops for having a turbo conversion on a non-turbo car... not to mention the insurance trouble you would have on the modified car.

i think the guy just wants to turbo his RB25DE engine not sell his car.

go the conversion mate, it will probably go better than you think as 10psi and hi compression go alright for the cost.

    • That's awesome. Fully serviced/full log book history for one of those cars is super rare from what I know. With JDM's like Skyline's, Supras, are quite hard to find one with full log book history. S15's seem to be somewhat of an exception, at least the spec s australian delivered models.
    • Hey all, It's been a bit since I have been able to update.  I pulled the fuel pump, first off it was a "universal" pump and the strainer was very clogged, and it was folded over on itself.  I replaced the fuel pump and all is well....  No more stalling.

    • Hey guys so turns out this project is going to be much bigger than I thought haha but I've done some my homework and have done a few panels on my car, but one part I can just not visualise is this. If I do a spot repair and I put filler in a dent for example and sand outside of the repair with 320 grit lets say so the primer can stick as I will only put primer on that repair and the surrounding area and then repaint the whole panel. Don't I need to make sure that I don't put primer on the old clear coat? I keep seeing YouTube videos where people have new paint and primer land on the old clearcoat that isn't even dulled down, it's still shiny. I thought putting paint on clearcoat or primer on clearcoat is a bad idea because it won't stick. So in this scenario it's a bit different to mine but imagine someone doing a spot repair and only painting that small section of repair but the new paint is landing on the old clearcoat. What am I missing?
