Hi all,

Im about to take delivery of a new 33 and had some questions regarding wheels.

Ive googled and searched here and found jack all regarding stock offsets and how to tell if wheels fit...

Does anyone know the actual size/offset for a stock 33 gts-t? My guess would be 16x7 +40... but I cant seem to find anywhere to confirm it.

Also the post with members wheels and whether they fit is very good, plus that offset calculator site is great, but it would be easier if someone knew the clearances between stock wheels and the suspension parts, so the offset calculator actually means something!

The reason I ask, is I've seen some wheels I like, however the offset isnt as good as I wanted and would like to know if they will fit - 18x8.5 +40. Now using the calculator (based on 16x7 +40) these wheels will be 19mm LESS clearance to the strut housing.

Fit, yes no??? is 19mm too much? anyone know a safe limit??

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

19mm less clearance from the strut is not a lot if you're using stock suspension. You should be able to assess that by sticking your hand inside the guard checking the clearance.

Ideal offsets would be around 18x8 +30 / 18x8.5 +35 fronts and 18x9/9.5 +35 - +40

The above offsets are just a guide and are very conservative to fit stock guards without any rolling or lipping and will most likely keep the wheels either flush or within the guards (legal).

The fronts are tricky as you will also need to find a wheel which clears your front brakes (4 pot). To be safe I always test fit the fronts or ensure they have high disk clearance.

Rule of thumb, if the fronts have massive dish and the spokes are flat, then it probably won't clear ur brakes.

And don't let wheel shops tell u its OK to fit spacers to make them clear coz they are illegal.

Post up the type and make of wheel and their specs if you have them.

great thanks for the reply... I might just wait until I get the car first and do like you said, check the clearances myself.

just wish there could be a definative guide somewhere on fitting wheels... it seems so "try it and see".

    • Have you done the Ignition Sync Wizard in the AEM software?
    • Find out what RPM it was idling at with the IACV unplugged. It's very weird that the rpm didn't change at all, and then it stalled. When it stalls is it nearly like a switch off, like you've turned the engine off? Or is it more stutters and sputters and coughs to death over a few seconds? Or does the RPM just slowly keep going down and down? Have you done a test of trying to start it with the AFM unplugged? Does it still die?     If you Follow Josh's advice on using Nistune to check the voltages (which is a perfect method!) if you see anything out of wack voltage wise, THEN get the multimeter out and read the voltage directly at the sensor. If the two vary, then you're now looking for a wiring issue vs a sensor issue. So be aware, what the ECU sees, may not be what the sensor is actually saying too...
    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.  
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
