-- WARNING Skyline n00b Alert! ---

I read the "Free Boost Mod" thread after my mate told me I wasn't getting enough boost. In fact I was not hitting stage 2 at all. So I ran the solenoid to ground as the thread suggested and lo and behold - full boost all the time.

So the question is this: given that by bypassing the ECU I've verified that the solenoid is fine and there is nothing mechanically wrong, does this mean my ECU could be rooted?

Also, and this is possibly related, I am getting atrocious economy (300-350 km to a full tank). But, this is my first Skyline so that could just be the way of things; I'm ALWAYS in the city and don't mind giving it a bit of welly when there's room to move - not always but a few times between fillups.

Appreciate your help guys!

Iain

P.S. If you haven't done the solenoid hack - it's well worth a go. WHEEEEEEE!

your fuel is about right for city driving, have you used a full tank on the hiway?

The boost solenoid could of been disconnected due to a loose wire/connection, by fiddling with it you could of solved it. It's working now so everythings fine.

Thanks for the tip on the fuel mate; it's good to know that's about average.

Hmmm, as for the solenoid, I guess it's possible it was just disconnected, I'll have to remove my short to ground and see if it comes on the higher boost in the higher rev range. As I said, at the moment, I'm running on high boost the whole time. Which is great fun - but probably not all that economical :(

If I take the short out and the higher boost doesn't come on in the higher rev range, I think I'll just use the solenoid hack and rather than earthing it to the body, I'll earth it to the power/snow switch light. That way when I switch it to power, I'll also get the higher boost.

Hmmm. That seems like a good idea - I'll keep you all posted if I do that.

Cheers

Iain
