hey guys.. i let a friend of mine drive my car for liek 2minutes and it came back f*kt.. its a r32 gtr.

he said he when he planted it and changed to 2nd gear it jus stopped boosting and he didnt feel anything sudden or notice anything out of the ordinary. it just stopped boosting

when i drive now it makes a noise as if air was coming out of the pipes.. i always had this problem with my pipes blowing off so i bought a hard pipe kit today.. but unfortunantly still hasnt fixed my problem.. ive also changed the spark plugs as they were caked with black stuff (carbon i think).

i dont know what else to do?. ive made sure all pipes are connected as tight and firm as possible.. all new o-rings/silicon hoses etc.

it smokes alot when driving too.. my mate told me there was blue smoke coming out of the exhaust.

have my turbo/s let go? or is it something else?

im gna try cleaning my air flow meters again but i just gave them a big clean a month ago.

mods are only catback, k&n hi flow panel filter, mines ecu

thanks

dude have it towed, as the ceramic dust can kill ur engine, and i dont think that you have calculated a engine build into your upgrade costs. this definitly is a blow turb, as i had the smae thing when a mate drove my car back when i bought it, nowadays nobody but me even sits in the drivers seat, be over protective, a GTR will make you bankrupt before you know it.

Yes it sounds like it could possibly be a blown turbo, but you can hardly say it deffinately is without seeing the car and making a visual inspection! Assumptions are the mother of all f*** ups. Are they even standard turbos with caramic wheels?

is there anyway to check/confirm that other then pulling it out?. cause i asked a mate to drive it while i was inspecting the problem i didnt see any blue smoke that they talked about.. only white..

but when i turn off the car the white smoke keeps coming out of the exhaust for abit.

im probaly gna leave the car in the garage for a while till i get some funds to fix it all in one go. would it be ok to leave it off for about 1-2months max?

hmm hopefully its not a rebuild :(

hey guys.. i let a friend of mine drive my car for liek 2minutes .....

uh oh, spaghetti oh's . Does it have a boost controller?

The only other person to drive my car, in a year and a half of ownage, is my dad when I was on Holiday for 2 weeks. I think people only appreciate these cars if they have put the hard earned money and time into them, if not then they'll fk'em up!

Make your mate pay for it, a decent mate would fess up and offer to pay.

sounds like a turbo since you said that cause the oil is vapourising in the hot exhaust after the car has been turned off and this gives off the white smoke

haha yeah he has already offered to pay. i knew that the ceramic wheels would bust some day. im not making him pay for it as i knew the day would come.. but im happy he has offered too straight up.

it doesnt have a boost controller. jus the restrictor removed.

If you busted a turbo you will find part of the shaft in the cat ( if you have one) . Do a compression test to see if you damaged the bore as well.

cool will do that today. as well as the compression test when i put new turbos in

thanks guys alot for your help

    • Man, different parts but the same numbers is terrible @dbm7! And it doesn't help that most online shops don't list the part numbers at all. They just give a list of compatible models...
    • Slow when hot could also be because its getting more dynamic compression, OR things are getting a bit tighter once it is all expanded. If it were an earthing issue, typically I'd expect you to have it have issues all the time. Unless it's really a combination of both things. Where the higher compression, and things being a bit tighter, is giving that bit of extra load and you do need a slight clean up on the cables/connections.
    • Yeah, this is one of the most annoying things about nissan part numbers... I've got an unrelated example... Image is of the AT output shaft ~ they have the same part#, but clearly the shaft on the left is beefier design to that on the right ...the difference (essentially) is the 'lighter' shaft on the right, is for engines up to RB25DE (this includes RB20 variants) : the shaft on the left is for RB25/26DET(T)....are they interchangeable? Yes...but obviously one shaft is going to be stronger than the other...and, the lighter shaft is around USD115, but the heavier shaft closer to USD150...same part#... ...epc-data usually tells a tale ~ the amayama listing for 39100-23U60 has a note "Longest side is between 60 and 105 cm" ; no such info is there for 39100-23U70 ...and given the great disparity in price between the 2 parts, it makes me at least curious (to the point of caution) where the 'extra money' went? ...ie; these 2 parts have a cost difference that (to myself at least) isn't explained by 'plastic boot'...ie; with amayama there's AUD700 price difference ...plastic versus rubber?...I'm not seeing it like that...and 60cm ~ 105cm...??...that's a huge disparity....something hinky going on here... I'd try searching by VIN, not model... /2cents
    • I don't know for sure, but I'd expect them all to be interchangeable given the diff end and hub end don't move/change between any C34 series. Often Nissan will change part numbers and the aftermarket follows those year ranges; but the original part number change doesn't mean other parts won't fit. The change could be a change in material, internal parts or even just supplier. For example, all the RB gearbox to engine bolts are no longer available and there is a new part number instead. The only change is they went from cadmium plated bolts to zinc plated due to the issues manufacturing with Cadmium. They look different but work the same.
    • One year is a bit concerning. Did you try contacting GSP? It says 5 year warranty on the box if I remember correctly. I'm also running their driveshafts on my S2 Stagea.   You could check the part numbers on Amayama for your year. Here's the link for my 1998 which gives the 39100-23U60 part number. Well, that and 39100-23U70. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/trans/391 What does it say for yours?
