i had my car dynoed (R32 GTS-T) by dr. drift it made 146.9 rwkw but my air/fuel was to lean.

so I brought a new Bocsh 040 intake fuel pump off a SAU member. Iv installed the pump but now it sounds like there’s air in the lines.

It sounds like when u turn the hose on for the first time all the air getting pushed out of the hose.

Any ideas on what this could be?

The 040 is much louder than the original gts-t fuel pump- you will notice it running from now on. Does your car still start/run and fix the lean issue?? If you haven't fitted an anti-syphon valve then you will get fuel feeding back to the pump when it's off, and possibly air in your lines. When you first put your car's key onto ignition, it will prime the fuel pump for a few seconds, this puts fuel upto the fuel rail.. if you have a leak in your fuel feed hose, you'll notice when you turn the car on that fuel will be pissing out of that area because the line is under pressure. i wouldn't worry about it unless there is an obvious sign of leakage or failure.

Driftsquad,

Do yourself a favour and buy a genuine Nismo or Tomei pump specific to the car.I recently had the noisy pump and difficult starting problems that the Bosch pumps give you.Since getting the Nismo pump from Nengun for $387.00 delivered I can`t tell you how happy I am.Turn the key and it starts, first time every time.A little noisier than standard but only at idle. You will always have that priming noise by the way.

Nippon Denso 500hp pumps can be had for $250, direct fit and work a treat

EDIT: Petroject in melb have them but thats retail, if you can find one on the net on something like nengun etc youll get it for around $250

But the bosh pump should pose no problems if its installed correctly, I dont see why youd remove if it its working correctly, also have you taken it back to same to rre-tune it? maybe he could give you some suggestions

ive got a bosch 040 fuel pump in my tank, and am having problems. The car wont start properly, always have to pump the gas until it kiks in, and the pump is very noisy at the start. Quites down after its warm but it is annoying. Im in need of a tune soon, ill have a talk to the tuner bout it and see what he rekons, but i think id be in search for a new pump. Im not happy with it.

Next time turn your key to start, but dont kick it over for 5 seconds or so.

This will let the pump prime and you will find there wont be an issue if its all correctly setup

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
