R33 4door Project Still Going! Now With Pics

]post-26828-1163673689.jpgpost-26828-1163673732.jpgHey all, just an update of what has been going on with my project as of late. Car was taken to friends house in Narrabri NSW and stripped of engine, interior and pretty much everything for that matter in August this year. Before my mate started on it he had his parents land rover to finish (which dragged out forever mind you).

So anyhow, it is now November and work finally started recently. He had this week off work and the car is coming along very nicely now. All guards, doors, boot, engine bay etc removed and stripped inside and out (back to metal). All apart from the roof and part of the body has now been primed and is ready for paint, hopefully by the end of next week the car should be ready for painting.

However, in all good projects there comes a problem, the bonnet was found to have large quantities of bog in the RHS front area. So since we have already gone this far I am going to replace it with straight one and be happy in my mind that my car will be sporting less bog than previous. So I am currently searching for a bonnet for the car, perhaps vented! Have found one already if vented ones are not the right price.

Have opted to paint the car the light XR6 falcon blue (velocity blue) and will two tone it with the bottom portion being Silver.

Car is going back together with all engine pieces/fuel lines etc being painted and or polished. Have alloy radiator to go in already and am planning exhaust manifold and turbo upgrade as well. Car had 220kw@wheels but I want 270kw.

Will hopefully have some pics of progress to post soon

This is the car previously

Hey guys, Just travelled down to my car on the weekend to help my mate out and we made some good progress with the engine bay now done. Colour is finalised with Velocity blue with 20% prismatic blu mixed in (sparkly stuff),

here are the pics

Bonnet sorted from good bloke in Ipswich, nice easy outcome to a potential annoying situation. Mate is a Spray Painter by trade and doesnt often get to paint whole cars (especially nice ones). He going above and beyond call of duty for me on this one, Car will come out SCHMIK

Well done on doing the complete job, what mods have you got planned for the 270kw?

Mainly Exhaust manifold, turbo and injectors as I already have everything else. Already have 40thou oversize arias forged pistons, bosch fuel pump, ECU, PWR FMIC, Turbosmart electronic boost controller and all the standard stuff.

Parts I would like to get are new plenum chamber as the one I have although still modded has same flow restrictions as standard.

When I begin putting car back together will be going whole hog with polished/painted everything and braided hoses and all that good gear. Will be a long term commitment but a good one when the end resullt is finally here

she hasnt changed much mate

will look good with a lick of paint

Hasnt changed much "YET" those are prior to painting, am working on getting pictures as the car is getting done. Will hope to have some soon

  • 3 weeks later...
yeah looks good, might help to take a picture in the sunlight to show off the colour better.

Pictures were taken in spray booth as I was running out of time. Needs sunlight to highlight the sparkle. Cant wait for rest of car to be done thats for sure!!!!

Manifold works well enough, rather than a performance mod its more just to cut down inlet length. However it works well enough for its intended purpose. BOV is probably not in the best place but it was one of the easier places to fit it and plumb it back to inlet, closer to the throttle body would be ideal I agree however sometimes its not that easy since plumbing it back would require one very long hose

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
