i think it is a defect.. because it distracts other drivers..

You didn't hear this from me... (or SAU or the manufacturer or anyone else, big disclaimer... I'm not game to test them on this one!) But:

I work for Aerpro and we've heard along the grapevine that Vic police will allow neons inside a car if they don't flash.

This EXCLUDES: washer LEDs, under-body kits, internal LEDs, big flashing dance lights, etc. In fact Vic police are pretty #^%ed off about the washer LEDs - they're the ones that they go after most of the time.

Other states are different, I heard somewhere that the QLD police are fining people $200 plus three points if your neons aren't red?? You hear all sorts of stories...

As Aerpro products are marketed internationally we can't say on the product what the legalities are for each state - it says on the product that the onus is on the purchaser to find the legalities in their state or territory, they are for off-street and display use only.

Basically, any external light on a vehicle that doesn't meet ADRs (red for stop, clear for reverse, orange for indicators) is illegal and can be defected. It's up to the copper's discretion...

So just be nice, smile & hope it's your neons that caught their eye, not the massive amount of boost that just flew past! :P

Copper down our way gave us a warning that they were illegal when we had these on our R31.

After the warning I hooked them up to a 3 way switch, where down was on continuously and up was a momentary "flash", but still wasn't game enough to use them.

The following is from Bluey, MCCR Police liaison.

Hope this help you:

There has been a lot of confusion in regard to the various colour neons, washer LED's etc in regard to what is and isn't allowed. This has come about because there are several rules and guidelines that effect them. Reports have been submitted to both the Police Policy section and Vic Roads to order to clarify it a bit better.

The Road Safety (Vehicles)(Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1999 S.R. No 54/99 Division 19 Section 118(2) states;

A vehicle may be fitted with any other light or reflector, except (unless sub-clause (3) applies) -

(a) a light that flashes; or

(B) a light or reflector that -

(i)shows a red light to the front; or

(ii)shows a white light to the rear; or

(iii)is shaped or located in a way that reduces the effectiveness of a light or reflector that is required to be fitted to the vehicle under the Vehicle Standards.

Although that says other lights can be fitted provided the above conditions are met the Vic Roads Technical Guide for Vehicles states;

Vehicle Standards Information 10: Installation of lights on Road Vehicles

Motor vehicles and trailers intended for use on the road must be fitted with lamps that comply with the Standards for Registration which for vehicles built on or after 1 October 1991 are the ADRs. The standards also prohibit a vehicle from being fitted with a lamp or reflector that is not required or permitted by the standards.

Road Rules - Victoria state

Rule 219

A driver must not use, or allow to be used, any light fitted to or in the driver's vehicle to dazzle, or in in a way that is likely to dazzle, another road user.

Definition of dazzle

1.v.t. confuse sight by excess of sight , intricate motion, etc, confound or surprise by brilliant display or prospect.

2.n. bright confusing light

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
