Hi Guys

I was offered this TO4E turbo (Old school garret, guess it's AR 50 - small type) inclusive with HKS manifold and external wastegate (Small). So far my setup is 33GTR HKS Drager exhaust, Blitz 3" downpipe, HKS Type S intercooler. I heard this is a bolt-on without modifiying anything.

Since this is from a fren, he's selling me cheap. Anyone reckon this is suitable for 34GTT? What boost do you think is safe for this type of turbo on the NEO engines. Still runing on standard ECU.

Appreciate feedbacks...Cheers!

Its a step backwards

Your putting 1970's design on a 1990's motor.

It will be laggy, unresponsive more than likely.

So you've gotta put that vs the cost... but IMO, not worth stuffing around.

It'll "feel" fast because the turbo will come on with a rush around 4000rpm, but make nothing really spectacular in power.

A GCG hi-flow or similar would out perform day in day out

It comes down to whats included in the price and what the price is.

Consider that the asking price on the hks low mount manifolds is around 1k on their own and the 38mm hks waste is worth a few hundred. It's not even close to bolt on if it doesn't come with lines, intake and hot pipe, as well as dump and wastegate outlet pipe.

It probably cost me close to $500 to install a HKS low mount kit by the time you factor in gaskets, intake pipe, silicone joiners, and lines as well as flanges and exhaust pipe. And i did my own fabrication and installation work.

Not the greatest turbo in the world either, but if it's priced around 1300 then it may be worth buying just to get your hands on the manifold and gate and add a new garrett 3071 to it later on.

Many thanks for the feedback. This turbo use to be on a RB26 running single turbo. Need to check with the lines & everything required to install. Hope to get some pics. Heard it's good to run at 1bar to 1.2bar of boost. Wondering whether my ECU will interfere in boost cut since the NEO engine.

If it was a GTR, its a GTR manifold.

You also need an adaptor plate to make it fit to the RB25 head.

And no, if you have stock injectors, management etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Then this is a very VERY bad idea

Ok..put that plans on the shelf. Now i better look at my other option which is a HKS 2835 turbo. But kinda expensive atm, guess i better get the Power FC & tune it first. Boost to .8bar and save the cash for now.

Just check that HKS manifold is for RB20 & RB25. Wish to post the pics soon. Wish to just test this turbo out since my fren is not gonna charge me anything if i don't like it in the end.

Nismoid, you reckon the turbo sizing is not suitable for NEO GTT? ANy recommendation fo turbo size?
