has any one mounted a gauge of 60mm in a driver vent on a r33?

heres a pic i found of a r32, he seems to have something in the vent for a gauge. does any one know were to get these?, or how to mount beta into a vent. mines ok, but i want it perfect.

Mine is just inside the vent with the apexi stand that comes with it, bent to the side. any other ideas were to mount? r were to get a vent mount? thanx

The 33 vents are a werid shape to mount any guages.. Unless you buy smaller 52mm or 42mm guages and make a custom mould in there to hold it in..

Otherwise it will end up looking like the pics you posted above!! WHICH looks crap to be honest..

Get yourself a dual a-pillar guage..

Yes i know it could be a defect.. but ohh well.. You didnt buy your car for nothing..

Or another option is to buy a triple guage cluster that fits into your din pocket.. Defis make them.. and im sure justjap make those tripple holders also..

Now another option is to drill holes into your glove box.. and mount them flush in there..

OR you can just mount on them on your dash..

Or dont have any guages at all..

get a power fc which reads most of the readings.. Or get a dual turbo timer which also reads the amount of boost!!

seriesII - i was thinking of that spot myself. quite a good position if you think about it. not as defectable seeing as it is under that threshold of steering wheel height.

i would probably make a custom mount to go there.

WogsRus - awesome specimen of an r33 interior! so clean and smooooooth

siddr20: thanx for the tips. yeah, it loox worse in the pix. sorta loox ok there, but doesent look clean at all. i really wanted it in that vent  . its easy to see when driving, and a boost gauge normaly is were you can see it quick i guess..

ive got a power fc. but i never keep the hand control in there. ppl like to steal . and the el gauge is easier to read at night..

i think i might have to go for a defi din pocket.. and it will look a bit beta in that spot i have a cheap holder there..

Logikal: yeah, you cant see it much from out side, its a awesome spot, that vent never blows on me anyhow... were did you put your gauge?

im not really looking to get pulled over. not really wanting cops to look over other stuff, and defeat me for a gauge then it moves onto other bigger fines, that im sure they may fine :P

WogsRus: its ok reading the gauge there?, cause i might do something arund that area now..

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
