Hi gang ... My search feature simply doesnt do anything i want it to "here" so i i thought i would chuck this up as i am really Homesic for my R32 Latley.... I know it has probably been discussed numerous times the Pros and cons of each car but I would luv a few comments on each car.

I am curious if any others have gone from a GTR to a WRX and were overwealmingly happy. To me although the rex seems to out handle the goddy because of nimbleness, i am starting to really have second thoughts about this EJ20 putter box. Its dead stock and for all the hype about these cars i can see why the fans luv them etc but i think i may be a victim of HYpe :)

I like it but havent spent enuff time in it to to really make up my mind ....

Will i think a bit different if i shove some boost into it? ....Some how i think i may have spoilt my self driving RB's around for the last 15 years.

Cheers ...

Hey ish

I actually went the other way by going 99 wrx to a 32 gtr lol. To me i personally think the wrx is a great everyday car and stock engine and turbo can handle quite alot without needing any supporting mods, i ran 17-18 psi everyday on stock turbo and cooler for a year and it was great. Going to a GTR on the other hand i feel its more of a track car and its abit harsh for everyday driving but performance and power feels more solid in the rb then the ej.

Handling i reckon both to their own, but to note the wrx does understeer quite alot. Just go test drive a good example of a wrx and see what you feel.

hope that helps

ken

I've driven both..... R32 GT-R is a completely different animal.

A regular WRX is extremely disappointing when compared to a R32 GT-R in my personal opinion, i much preferred the R32 in every way.

STi's are very nice, I do like them, however once again they feel alot different to an R32. They may both be 4wd, but that's about where the similarities end. At the end of the day it comes down to user preference really.... go drive both and decide for yourself

hey ish,

i own a r32 gtr and my old man owns a late 03 wrx..

having driven both a heap of time i would have to say my gtr has way better power(both stock with zorst) the wrx would be a better daily driver but overall the gtr gets my vote..

also the older wrx seem way under powered compared the new 03 rex..

go the gtr

:pirate: ... ultimatekenz.... d0p3y, gun32gtr thats fairly close to how i feel hey!

>the rex<

Really I should give the rex a bit more of a chance I spose and accept that it is fairly handy for its money !

Just those Subaru guys think they are the ultimate and i am a bit dissapointed personaly!

ultimatekenz > Hearing you were very happy with yours and had a bit of scope for more boost etc without problems makes me feel much better actualy.

>The Goddy<

I miss the sound , the look , the quality , the information ,

I dont miss the Attention (GTR Fly's) , the limited service options . the scary ceramic turbos i had always threatining me and the PLOD theroy etc :)

I generally bought the rex to settle down etc etc although now hounestly i recon the fans might like them a bit more than they deserve....

SIMPLE FACT there is nothing quite like a GTR SKYLINE and may not be again the way we know it ...

also i think in the future if u plan on modding it the gtr is alot more friendly to mods as in getting easier power...

i think youd have to spent alot more on rex to get the same power

Rex's are almost at peak performance stock, running thick head gaskets and lots of boost. GT-R's in stock form are restricted all over the place reflecting nothing of what they really can do. GT-R’s also provide far better flexibility as far as tuning options go.

Besides that rex's have four doors and the only thing that sets them apart from a GX is the bonnet scoop. Wrx’s also sound like old VW's running poorly and they are four cylinder and derive from a front wheel drive car and they are very common and they make you feel less manly after driving one and they're Subaru’s only half decent car. lol that'll do with the suby bashing for today.

I drove a bugeye evo 5 Rex yesterday to help a mate with a few problems. What a piece of poo!!!!! Stinking gutless understeering junk. Doesn't deserve to share the same discussion with a GTR.

Pretty handy for shopping and carparks tho I suppose, but I have another Skyline for that.

All to their own as if you look at the two cars they are quite different animals for starters the gtr was about twice the money than a 99 wrx and i think it shows when you dump the clutch hard into second, the the bang from the rear of the rexs can be a little unnerving. The other things are 2 door vs 4 door and about 7 or 8 years difference in age. But i have done quite alot of driving in both and although i own a gtr i would deffinatly consider a 99 or 00 rex. for all those who hate the understeery feel try a bigger rear sway bar and anti lift kit and a good alignment by somone who knows how to set one up and they feel great.

but while im young and dumb ill keep my gtr!

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
