Hi,

Anyone installed one of these kits before on an R32? Is there a difference between the R33 and R32 kits? Because the piping I recieved looks identical to the R33 kit shown on there webpage http://www.justjap.com/forumcoolerkitspecial.htm

I'm only asking this because the piping doesn't lign up. On the passenger side, the existing two holes for the factory cooler I had to cut out so the pipe would lign up with the intake side of the intercooler.

Now the main problem I face is the new hole I need to cut directly under the battery. I trial fitted the pipe to measure up where I need to cut this hole and it seems way too far back towards the wheel arch. I cannot cut there because there are aircon pipes and wires on the otherside.

I've got a feeling that I might have recieved the wrong piping kit because the R32 kit on there webpage has a different piping design.

Attached is a picture of the factory intercooler holes that I cut out to make one long one. Was this needed by anyone installing this kit?

I've just taken a second look and now I realised the piping does line up to for the new hole under the battery. However I still don't know how to mount the bracket of the cross overpipe onto the engine.

Mate do a yahoo search for 'Hybris intercooler install" and that will give u the pdf instuction guide with pics. your kit is the same its just a hybrid copy. U can also get this pdf from this forum , do a search for the link.

I was under the impression the cooler pipes were interchangable with rb20 and rb25.

I must admit, i had a minor problem when fitting mine to my r32, in the end i cut one of the pipes in two, and rotated it to make it align correctly, then reconnected with a silicone joiner.

hope that helped

Oh and one more question, does it matter which direction you install the intercooler? Like which side is inlet and which side is outlet, ie non directional?

Thanks

the intercooler is not directional so it doesnt matter, When i did my kit on the r33 i had to enlarge the factory hole too adn i wasnt happy, it was a pain.

Upon hindiste i would spend the money on a blitz or similar kit or get custom piping from some where reputable.

Its ok to enlarge the stock hole just make it look neat and paint it so it dont rust.

Wouldn't that make it prone for the silcone join to pop off because the pipe isn't lipped. I'll see tomorrow how I can fit the outlet pipe under the battery.

Hmm all the pipes in the kit should have a lip??? i dont have a just jap one bu ti assumes its the same, i got mine directly off a supplier in hong kong and it had lipped pipes. piping kit cost me $52 USD then $75 USD for cooler from memory. Postage was a biatch

you could just use the stock piping if your adverse to cutting, might not flow as well, but i doubt youd notice much unless your really going bigger boost, pipping popping off is a prick!, and like the man said, RUST PROOF !

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
