In my opinion it is not a myth.

In my GTR i usually fill the tank up as soon as the fuel light comes on, I never take chances. One night my brother decided to take my car out and when I got it back it was low on fuel, on the verge of conking out. So I had to put in 5 bux of normal unleaded from a dodgy petrol station in order to get to the next BP.

I don't know whether it was the crap at the bottom, the normal ULP or a combination of both, but the car starting coughing and spluttering and misfiring, had to have all the injectors cleaned before it was running smooth again. Therefore, I will never take a chance with the bottom of the tank sediment theory.....

    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
    • Hi All, putting the engine back together and everything is perfect except have this plug left over.. any ideas what it is for and where it goes? Is on cold side under the intake plenum *note not a stock plug, as everything has been modified Cheers
    • Sounds like a misfire. Check fuel pressure and don't even think about going into boost while it's like this unless you enjoy engine rebuilds.
