Got a twin plate clutch fitted today (anybody want to buy a 9 button single in good condition?:P )

When the car came off the hoist the guy doing the work noticed one of the intercooler silicone hoses had sort of dislodged itself. (fixed for free, good old fashioned service)

It had obviously been that way for a while, probably started small and got worse over a period of time.

When I got in to drive home (peak hour) I had the joy of a much more responsive car and a grippy as hell clutch. I am sure there are a few commuters who now wont like to get anywhere near maroon skylines - it was either stall, really slow take off until the clutch bit then wheel spin or just lite em up from the line.:D

Thank god it wasnt raining.

Well I got a nismo cat back system, so its not so loud - attract less unwanted attention that way. Had a special high flow cat :( , and fixed the coola pipes, and of course the twiin plate OS giken clutch. It goes alot harder than when I took you for a spin.:P

Its still a work in progress, with the following waiting to be fitted:

Hillsmotorsport plenum

044 fuel pump

fuel pressure reg

550cc injectors,

getting a manifold and dump made at the moment - another 2 weeks wait and a new pipe from the AFM to the turbo.

I have a 264 exh cam on its way from jap and an adjustable cam gear.

I also have a new rear bar waiting to go on, and a few other miscellaneous bits.

I am thinking I will just put a 1.6mm headgasket on, fit the 3037 and see how much the stock bottom end will handle. James at D1 Garage reckons I should be good for up to about 300rwkw with the engine decompressed as he has seen it done heaps in japan without any problems. I am tempted to believe he knows what he is talking about after going for a spin in his Cefiro - I came back after a short demo and it took me about 1/2 an hour to get the smile off my face - that car is sick, and its got stock internals rb20, stock ecu, stock afm etc. Its nuts.

Have you had much done yet??

EDIT: I have just organised some 850cc injectors, so I now have a set of 550cc's for sale as well as the clutch - if anybody needs em:D

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
