NismoGirl
Well... Tonight was interesting... We were at Maccas at Springwood sitting, chatting. Next thing 3 cop cars pull in and a Department of Transport (DOT) car. Hrm me thinks.. So the boys walk away from me .. tell me to get into the car... I'm thinking "There not going to stop a chick.. surely!" HAHA *BUZZ* wrong answer. Looked over the engine. Asked if we had recently bought the car, I say, yeah three months ago. They asked if we had done anything to it since we got it. I say No. Then he asks me to pop the bonnet. I do this while being nice to him. While they were looking under the bonnet I quickly switched the scanner off and hid the turbo timer (I will explain why later). I got a defect notice for the ... I still can't stop laughing "Turbo Whistle"... NOW .. what the ****... is a "Turbo Whistle".. i know what a BOV is... but a Turbo Whistle. (comments were made later that i should have said the Blitz wasn't connected cause we still have the standard one on too) Thats the only thing i got defected for. Question... What is the easiest and quickest way to remove the BOV for the day and then put it back on?? Maybe this might be the chance we need to actually fix the two BOV situation.. Also.. are turbo timers illegal?? I have heard that they are? Can anyone clarify this?? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1540-defected/ Share on other sites
Guest MRE
Sorry to here about the "Turbo Whistle" Was that you tonight? I was in the Silver R33 that had a short run with the 200zx(?) and there was a white R33, like the one in your pic? Near the end of Logan rd you kept going straight and I turned right? Silver-Arrowz
I can't see why turbo timers would be illegal. In no way does it make the car emmit more toxic fumes or anything else. Guest MRE
A white Skyline and a black 300zx(I think?) with what looked like a full veilside(sp?) kit. Turned or Beenleigh Rd on to Logan Rd, heading towards Springwood. I ran a red one to catch up then passed you and pulled up at a red light and had a run with the other car. As I turned off I had my arm waving madly out the window. My car is stock (pod) 2 door Silver R33. Buggered if I was looking at number plates. I live in the area and see the cops cruise the Macc's car park at Springwood all the time so I dont go there. Do you have a bigger pic of your car? I don't think turbo timers themselves are illegal... but I think it IS illegal to leave your car running while you're not in it? Squizz
Go to the RTA and ask them what a 'turbo whistle' is. Any inaccuracies on a ticket can be argued Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1540-defected/#findComment-30333 Share on other sites

NismoGirl
Whats the easiest way to remove the blitz one?? Take it off and put a plate over the hole? Get a new piece of pipe...? Can any of this be thrown back on the car yard for selling a defected vehicle?? Why wouldn't a safety cert of a road worthy pick it up if its a defect??? Guest 570CK
You can get done by having a turbo timer.. Chris ET beat that 300zx pretty easy too. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/1540-defected/#findComment-30440 Share on other sites
Guest Stocker
If you are parked somewhere and you see the police coming, just lock your car up and walk away. They have no right to ask you to come back to your car for an inspection or search if you are not with your car at the time. The rutbo timer thing....some trucks come out of the factory with them..I'd look into that, I don't think it's a defect. Regards, Andrew. Guest 570CK
According to D.O.T. If your car doesn't come with a turbo time standard, then your not allowed to have one connected to your car..
