I'm really not sure what you mean.

The RB30 block has a predrilled and tapped hole for the new tensioner location as an RB30 only uses one tensioner and no idler on the drivers side or when looking at the block the left side of the block.

Found a pic of my block as it was being built up.

As you can see the flat surface around the place where the tensioner will go.

Mine was a Series II VL Wagon Exec NA Block.

Are the blocks you have Series 1 blocks? Do they have the oil and water lines already tapped? If not they are series 1 blocks.

Are you going to use stainless steel welsh plugs or brass ones as per pic 1?

EDIT: Also the fuel consumption I am getting is pretty damn good..

Slightly better than what the rb20t was getting. :D

The RB20t was getting around 11L/100km's.

heres the pics. i have 3 blocks like the first pic and the other is a genuine vl turbo block

I have a VL na S2 block and it looks like this.

attachment.php?attachmentid=25142

Now I know that VLT and VL na S2 blocks are the same but if you look under the engine block number it will have a number.

6=na

8=turbo

mines a 6 :D

well its all tapped for turbo gear from the factory so its a bit wierd!

also i have another turbo block that doesnt have the machined surface for the tensioner.

so its 5 blocks in total all of which are tapped from the factory.

2 turbo blocks wearing an 8 under the engine number.only 1 has the machined surface!

3 na blocks all of which have no machined surface

dnb My block is the same as yours and it has all the oil and water lines tapped aswell. I have already had it Torqueplate bored, honed and o'ringed so I was thinking of making a washer the right shape and fill around it with devcon (steel putty) and file it back level with the other surfaces. I have bought a second tensioner instead of the idler. I also have to make an adopter plate to fit a 4wd sump as it will be going into a GTS4.

what about the na blocks that ARE tapped but have no machined surface?.

you deleted your post alf! now this looks silly

sorry, getting confused here.

Ok, i've had this convo about rb30 na blocks before with several knowledgable ppl.

Everyone says the s1 rb30 block doesnt have tapped holes for oil and doesn't have the machined surface.. but the same ppl have seen a few s1 blocks with tapped holes.

haha yeah ive had that block done aswell;( its cool though as im selling my old sohc set up to a guy who will buy this block off me as its ready to go. i was gonna do the devcon trick aswell but since i have the option to unload it and i have another block sitting there i will just get the other one machined up.

i think this had better be mentioned in the rb2530 conversion guide!

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
