Have been looking at WRC cars specs to try and see how the hell they make so much torque, and then thinking how you could apply this to a street GTR. Easy step #1 (easy, not inexpensive) is go to 3 L from 2.6. This will mean less revs available, but as a street/club day car this is what Im after. The WRC cars have more stroke than bore. I understand this will limit revs, but produce more torque lower in the rev range - due to having a smaller combustion chamber, leading to a better burn efficiency?? WRC cars still only have a realistic compression ratio (8:1 - 10:1) . Having a look at bore/stroke for some cars.....M3 86mm, 90mm - VL turbo 86,85 - RB26 86,73- WRC Focus 84,88. No wonder they reckon M3's have a piston velocity equal to F1!Having read the article in HPI (?) on producing more torque, there are obviously gains to be had in ECU programming, and additional boost controls. Does anyone have any dyno numbers from the few 3 L GTR's? The big track monsters have the big top end turbos, but are there any street cars giving good street performance?

I would think torque is maximised from the following variables (please correct me if im wrong)

1. Displacement (like you mentioned 2.6-3.0l)

2. Good high compression

3. Correctly sized turbo with smallish compressor a/r

4. What you've just mentioned as well.

5. Anything esle?

I think the most important factor here is getting everything to be correctly matched in terms of airflow.

Regardless, its still amazing how the wrc cars can make 500nm plus from just 2 liters

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
