I been noticing alot of places now offering the higher octane rated fuels, must be the trend with all the youngn's fillin up their "Mugen/Honda" '83 Civic "type R" with 98 Octane fuel :)

But seriously its great more places are stocking it, my car runs like a complete dog on regular, unfortunately had to put some in one day, due to lack of premium in the middle of nowhere!

why is it that optimax seems to be at least 5c mroe expensive per litre than 8000 or ultimate? everyone i speak to swears by optimax but if they're all 98RON then i don't see how optimax could be that much better. must be good advertising techniques...

i use 8000 because it is 300m away, and also because the BP near me only has 96RON stuff but next to uni has BP ultimate and after recently trying it i give it two thumbs up.

Waz.

i herd that optixmax goes off much more quicker than other high octain fuels i mean every fuel has a due by date but i herd that optimax only has about 4 to 6 days so that could be it i guess =)

i read it some where here

well ihave tried s8000 and iam happy would like to still go with ultimate if its around my area

With the exception of Shell, I know of only one BP (that's within 20km of my house) that stocks ULTIMATE.....

Ozzy where do you normally get ur ULTIMATE from? The BP in Phillip or Civic? Man its good to hear more place are poppin up in the ACT/QBYN area sellin the stuff!

I'm running on the limit of detonation with 16psi and just over 20degree's timing.

I find with BP 98 here is SA that I get a slight hessitation and it doesn't seem to hit as hard when boost comes on.

Mobil S8000 however seems to be a lot punchier.

BP 98 when reving out second and clicking third doesn't punch you in the seat where as when I run S8000 it does.

Not sure why but it does.

Vary's with different servo's.

We have a BP down here that is always 6 cents more expensive than ULP. The one around the corner is 9 cents more expensive.

I found that Mobil is generally always around 9-12cents more expensive than ULP.

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
