Hey guys.

Ive just got some 18x8 and 18x9 wheels for my R32gtst.

the offset front and back is 38..

the backs fit on perfectly...

but the fronts hit the calliper.

So i went down to autobarn and bought a pair of 8mm spacers...

and the wheel turns but still rubs against where it says nissan on the calliper..

I called around a few places looking for some 10mm bolt on spacers. but seemingly they are non existant. the smallest i could get were 20mm. which is too big..

what do i do? it only just (as in only JUST! :( i would need about 0.5mm more clearence to be ok).. rubs against where it says nissan on the calliper. could i file the nissan off the calliper?

Cheers guys.

Plenty of people have shaved "Nissan" off the calipers for clearance but personally if it's that close I would not feel comfortable, especially with "slip on" spacers. Slip ons are dodgey at best and dangerous at worst. They reduce the stud length available for the wheel nuts and are usually not "hub centric".

You've obviously purchased wheels that are low/medium caliper clearance, 4 pot Nissans need high caliper clearance wheels to fit without spacers. Maybe somebody with a Gtst could help with offset variables

I filed the nissan off the calliper.. that and used 8mm slip on (non centering) spacers..

Seems ok for now... Down the track (soon) i will purchase some longer studs...

might even fork out for some centering spacers.. but for now it all seems fine.

Cheers for the help.

I had some 10mm ones made up, perfect fit as they were made to suit. Cost $80 a pair or so.

10mm bolt ons? on slip ons?

i wouldnt want to go any bigger than what i have if they were slip on..

are there disadvantages in running a spacer that is bigger than required.

the fact that an 8mm spacer fits makes me not want to go any bigger...

where abotus did you get them made up.. not that it really matters considering your in brisbane..

anyone know of anywhere that could make some up in melbourne?

Cheers

10mm slip on. The smallest you can get in bolt on is 15mm or so I could find anyway.

Mine are a tight fit... As in wire brush to clean it all up, then a slight tap with a rubber mallet to get them on (hubs were still a bit warm tho) They are hub centrivical (sp?). So they tightly fit the hub, then my wheels fit the spacers hub, if that makes sense. And I have longer studs.

[edit] go to http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=2432648 linky linky. Thats some pic of my old ones, and my new ones to give you an idea on what Im talking about.

Yeh. they look nice.

the ones i have at the moment have slots rather than holes for the stud to go through. so once they are on they move around a fair bit...

did my best to center them before tightning the wheel..

Ill have to look into getting some longer studs and a self centering spacer for mine...

although either way its still illegal i believe.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
