Ok so I have gone out and got myself an O2 XDAII Mini mobile phone / pda thing and I can not for the life of me get the damn MMS working.

Virgin will only sms me the setting not tell me over the phone. SMSing me the settings will not work they have not sold these phones in the past.

Phone calls and Text SMS's work fine! No problems at all.

Operating system is Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition ( Pocket PC )

I have searched the net and have found many people with similar problems.

Help me!

;)

I've got the XDA2 just a bigger version of yours, but am with optus.

Quick google around gave me this link for you:

http://www.mtekk.com.au/Forums/tabid/56/po...ic/Default.aspx

Should be very similar for you, basically all you need is a GPRS connection for the MMS program to connect to, with your access point name as VirginMMS

Then in your MMS program, create a new server with the settings:

http://mms.virginvibe.com.au:8002/

202.139.083.152

port 8070

And that should work. You can send yourself a test mms and you should get it to make sure its working.

  • 2 weeks later...

When you go to START --> SETTINGS --> CONNECTIONS

Then you have Connections or GPRS Settings

Under GPRS on the Authentication Tab what do you have your phone set as? Either PAP authentication or CHAP authentication? and under the other Tab do you use class 8 or Class 10 settings?

Back to the

START --> SETTINGS --> CONNECTIONS

If I click on -> manage existing connections.

It shows me 3 tick cicrles

NAME NUMBER

Auto pick

SBS PPP

VirginMMS VirginMMS

I have no spot where I can enter a http address at all if I click edit on the VirginMMS one.

It asks for a Name for the Connection ( I call it VirginMMS or workmutharflarkerwork ) depending on my mood.

It also asks me to select a modem.. weird.. I select --> Cellular Line (GPRS) then NEXT

It now asks for the Access Point name.. I Type in VirginMMS the NEXT

USer Name:

Password:

Domain:

I enter nothing

ADVANCED:

use server assigned IP address. ( I select this option )

Can enter in Specific IP address if I want.. not selected.

Use Slip?? Not selected

Use Software compression?? not selected

Use IP header compression?? not selected

Dont make it friggin easy do they.

>_<

Just use generic optus GPRS Settings. they will work.

OH your account needs GPRS/Internet Data setup too

P.S. I just got my o2 Graphite 3g windows mobile 5.0 phone, dam vodafone 3g, cant make video calls, but can recieve them. "Oh update your software" Its been on the market for 2 weeks THERE IS NO NEW SOFTWARE.

Douchebags. Ohwell, vodafone will shut up shop soon just watch!

Ahhh

stuffed it

I reset all the settings some how.

Friggin crap.

I can build a damn windows Server 2003 System and Install every operating system under the sun, encode in C++, VB, pascal, HTML yet I cant get my damn phone working..

What kinda world is this I ask you..

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
    • The annoying part about neglect, is when you start to replace one thing, and find ten more broken things. Ham fisted monkey repairs you normally only find out about when trying to do something unrelated! Ha ha   Neglect you can kind of anticipate the huge costs to fix it all. Ham fistedness is normally a shock the first time your work on a new old car, as everything "looked" good before.
