I should also say that I remembered reading somewhere that the the RB26DETT crank nose is larger in diameter than the other RB engines. If this is correct, then the ID of the pump gear will also be larger. I can actually confirm this if you like as I have an RB26 oil pump on the bench, and RB30E one (buried somewhere)....let me know.

As for the water pumps, don't know for sure, but it's possible the RB26 type would have a higher flow rate as it has to feed 2 turbos - but then again, the same thing could be achieved using a smaller diam pulley....

Good question Joel, :)

I think Tomie/Jun? make a adapter for this. I just have to speak to a few people and see who sells them. I havent started looking for that just yet. As i am trying to find a set of good cheap forgies, i think there called Aries? "rocket industries" make em. got a quote off a guy on here for $1100 with rings!!! :)

So iam just buying all the little cheapy bolt ons that i will need for later, like this oil & water pump. But thanks for bringing this to my attn.

So were are you at with your RB30 build? progressing?

PS: if you find a place that sell them, drop me a PM.

PPS: also for oil squirters.

Cheers,

Joel!

Let me know where you get the jun adaptor and pistons etc.

Do the pistons have to have provision for the oil squirters?

Or pistons are pistons oil squirters or not?

I'm using the oil squirters from my RB20DET.

I'm at the stage where i'm just getting all the bits together.

differences between rb30 and rb30t are as said above , plus the rb30t releif spring is about 4 mm longer.

the gtr pump is i think same size as rb30t pump , but has different shaped gears and the releif valve is slightly larger diameter.

best to check though.

a mate is using a gtr pump on his vlt

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
