Thought i'd just post and say i finally bought an exhaust (nearly 2 months later haha)

Went for the HKS Silent High-Power and it has just arrived and will be picking it up tommorrow. I went through a new Canberra company called NextMod (they had a post here but it was deleted) and I could not recommend them highly enough. Their service is crazy, I was getting responses to questions (13 in total ) within a half hour and the exhaust is available for pickup a little over 1 week from ordering, pretty good considering it was sent from Japan

So if you need any performance parts just check them out at www.nextmod.com.au

now wheres my sack of money

FINALLY! Procrastination is the devils 12th sin :)

Not to damper your spirits, or sound like an emo anti-establishment wanker but my PEII on a BNR32 was 97'ish dB, and popped a 102 or something on the over run (years ago, everything completely stock)

I would class a PEII as ridiculously quiet. Anything that sounds RB tough will be illegal. Cop the canary, and fit your rego setup for the pits ($150 2" cat back fab'd from anywhere)

My jaded 2cents

Precisely my train of thought. So quiet, they "surely" wont pick you, unless they've already pulled u over for silly driving (done half a dozen RBT's with no mention of noise level)

Think im replacing center muffler with straight pipe, or just making new 4" sys to match 4" dump. Looking around, seems the PEII should sell well 2nd hand.

if the silent model is that big im glad i didn't go the normal model :X

Now to get dump/front and cat then time to install, figure i'll do it myself but was just wondering if i need some kind of gasket goo/sealant/cement if the gaskets are brand new.

Yep going BATMBL for the split front/dump and maybe JustJap for the cat. Could you tell me whether the BATMBL ones come with all the gaskets and bolts. Also did you use any type of gasket goo or just the gasket alone when installing?

i got a JJR front pipe and Xforce cat from Just Japs and fitted the entire exhaust myself pretty easy make sure u ask about the front pipe gasket when u purchase it, some come with a gasket some don't. the only tricky bit is is getting the bolts in and done up on the front pipe its a bitch just be patient and u will be right

  • 3 weeks later...

Well all items are delivered and im attempting to install it now, sections from the cat back were easy to remove (car sounds so tough with just the dump and front pipes ) but the dump is an absolute c*** to get off.... 11 year old bolts are bastards to loosen, snapped 2 on the heat shield so have been making good use of WD40 for the rest of the job. Will be pics when im done

Edit

All parts off (no snapped bolts ), all set to put new parts on but cannot get the exhaust temperature sensor off the cat, anyone have any tips? I have tried shifters, vice grips, hammer and chisel, nothing will get the bastard off! Thinking about just closing off the hole on the new cat and just getting rid of the sensor cable, would this do any harm?

sweet jesus... if this is the silent model id hate to think how loud the normal model is! Hope its just a leak somewhere (didnt put any gasket cement on because i have to take it into the shop monday) because its around 100dB. Sounds tough though.

Install went good, only problem was the cat being about an inch too short which put all the hangers on the exhaust out of whack so had to put the old one back on and will take it to a shop on monday to get the higher flowing one put on and let them worry about modifying brackets and getting that dam exhaust temp sensor off!!! Its seriously impossible. Looking back i wish i had taken it to a shop but probably saved myself about $100 doing the front/dump myself. All that is left is cementing all the gaskets, new cat and exhaust temp sensor removed

yea i drowned it in WD40 and left it while i attached the dump and had some lunch then attacked it again, took a decent size chunk on metal out (didnt strip it, chewed it) It has to welded on or something... Will let the exhaust shop worry about it.

Had my first long drive in the car today to and from work and i love it, not as loud as i thought initially, would say its below 98dB but has a nice rumble to it. Also to anyone who has the BATMBL split dump, how loud was your turbo after the swap because mine sounds like a bloody hair drier on full force! Love the sound but it cant be normal...

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
