paulr33
i dont see how the remap killed it, it sounds like human error the pfc may have helped with the knock light going spastic if you were using the pfc and the boost kit and you ramped up the duty cycle it would have done fuel cut when it flew past 0.25kgcm2 of the target boost so you would have been ok and failing that the knock light would have been going spastic with the remap the ecu would have seen stackloads of detonation and should have dropped to the low octane map i would have thought this would have been enough to save the engine, or was that "remapped" too? just curious & love learning so relax Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/161885-re-mapping-ecu-on-r34-gtt-neo/page/2/#findComment-3015325 Share on other sites
MANWHORE
the engine check light isn't anything special. Stock ecu does it too when it hits knock. I'd say most liekly, the knock map was tuned to be the same as the normal map (at worse than the normal map etc) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/161885-re-mapping-ecu-on-r34-gtt-neo/page/2/#findComment-3015660 Share on other sites
Abo Bob
i dont see how the remap killed it, it sounds like human error That's what I said. It was my fault. This thread is like bumping into an ex for me. Not pleasant. I'm happier calling it my fault than thinking it wasn't tuned better. MANWHORE
paying 500 dollars for a tune is akin to paying 5000 to a lawyer.... you are paying for experience not for hours spent. i think 500 for a full faultless tune is a bargain but i do have issues with people charging 500 to tune mearly the power curve which many do. I agree with you about experience and qualification when you put it that way. what i'm trying to say, is that with a lot of research, and if you know what you're doing, you mmgiht not be that bad off. I have a friend who's been going about it like that, and while he might not make optimum power/torque, his tunes are fairly good. He makes them very safe. I'd happily let him do my car (won't cost much at all).
