I'm getting a big Front Mount fitted in a couple of weeks and am curious as to what increase in performance I will get???

I have just shy of 200 Ponies at the rears which is OK for now, but want more.

Will it be laggy with the current 0.9 BAR boost?

Will my BOV be louder as it is already quite loud?

I concur Meggala! But under my current driving conditions I feel that the reduced induction temps will keep my engine a little healthier and therefore more responsive to ungrades in the turbo area soon!

Plus the look of the cooler is gold!

I have earmarked $1,500 for a fully set-up T28 from a 200sx running 1.05 BAR boost, and reprogrammed eprom

Guys..... T25 and T28 are the same flanges and appear on CA's SR's and RB26's, RB20's and 25's run a T3 flange..... As for the cooler we just ran 396 rwkw through a stock 33 GTR cooler and lost around 15 kw on subsequent runs from heat soak. We could touch the cooler and it was still cold with inlet temps of 65 degrees?? As it turned out there was a lot of heat soak in the inlet manifold of the RB26....

Just some food for thought....

Cant quantify this response with a kw figure, as I didnt do before and after dynos. What I can do is give you a seat of the pants idea of what happened when I fitted a coola.

I had already fitted a powerfc, but it wasnt tuned as the cooler was going in and I didnt want to pay for tunes twice.

I fitted a 300 x 600 x 76 hybrid (sydney) coola. As soon as I drove the car - on the way to the dyno before the power fc was tuned - I noticed when I put the foot down the usual urge was gone - because I was frying the clutch :D

The difference was pretty amazing. By the time I got too the dyno, trying to drive gently in traffic, the clutch was smoking. The dyno was only successful to a point as with boost at 0.85 bar.

Can only say that I found it an excellent upgrade, with no down side - greatly improved response and power. Didnt notice any increase in lag.

I can only recommend it.

Well before i put on cooler on i had 155rwkw with s-afc full exhaust and pod and around 12psi. When i put the cooler on and retuned the s-afc it pulled 185rwkw on 12psi and 164rwkw at 7psi.

R33's seem to gain more power with the cooler upgrade than the r32, might be sumthing to do with the ecu's

An intercooler is not necessarily give u a massive power hit all on its own. As inlet temperatures are reduced you can tune it slightly better without risk of detonation, so you may get a 10-15% improvement on just the intercooler alone... but it may not be noticeable, and you may get some lag which will counter that small gain.

Where it really comes into its own, is when you up the boost, you can do so much more reliably. Most (aside the freak cases) with a pod/exhaust/fmic and 10psi or so boost can get around 160-170rwkw. Then if u get some type of aftermarket management, and can get it running 12-14psi you might be looking at 180-200rwkw. After that, if you choose your cooler wisely, it will be a good base for when/if you replace your turbo.

The stock i/c on the 33 is so tiny its silly...

Correct Predator 666, I am just deciding whether to go for the 800x300x76 cooler from Power Digga in Sydney or the 600x300x76.

I have been told that the 600 still flows a truck load more than my current std cooler, and the 800 may just increase the lag a little too much.

I think that the 600 cooler will deliver a good base for future upgrades turbo as I don't want to go CRAZY!!!

Thanks for the responses guys!

Has anyone bought a VG30 Turbo as an upgrade for a 32, where can I get one and for how much (can fit myself-with mates)

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
    • the Tomei LSD fluid with lsd kit. frustrated that it was shaking the car to crap and affecting everything else negatively, I pulled the diff last night, and removed the lsd carrier, could not find anything wrong, however it seem to be 100 locked up acceleration, and deacceleration, wondering if they sent me a 2 way not a 1.5??  either way I installed the stock open carrier back in place. test drove everything smooth as butter again. no shake, shutter, random, what felt like clutch slip and grab or drive shaft play, etc. something differently wrong in side the lsd. I might bother taking it apart (if possible) to figure out what's going on inside this carrier, as bought too long ago to return.  only draw back is its back to a one wheel wonder.
