Hi Pete,

I have followed the instructions on your website, and now have the USB key taped to my buttocks. However, it is uncomfortable when I sit down. Can you address this in a future release?

Thanks

P.S. will try it out tonight :(

You just have to get everything i have dont ya Geoff :)

Recieved my cable and usb yesterday, very happy, will try to give it a workout tonight or over the weekend. Thanks NewKleer.

Regards

Paul

cool, thats all for the moment, might get to make some more next weekend, if my arms havent fallen off from nonstop typing of my thesis until then!

Peter

for people with usb converters who want TECU to work, ive added this to bottom of readme page:

Important: TECU is assy with any COM port other than COM1 and sometimes COM2.

To have any chance of it working with USB/Serial, you need to force COM port to COM1 or COM2 (whichever isnt in use):

1) Find "USB Serial Port (COMX)" in device manager (see above to find this)

2) Right Click, Properties -> Port settings -> Advanced -> Change port number on dropdown.

3) It will say its in use, but if u know it isnt (ie u dont have modem or bluetooth or anything there) then just confirm/continue/ok etc.

4) Open TECU, on main startup screen it where it says "Com Port:1" in bottom left corner - double click this to change to COM2 if you set converter to COM2.

Is there any chance of getting one now? I see there is a reserved list, could I be added to that (though can't see why ppl wouldnt take it, great price!)

Cheers

back at post #81 at least i stopped adding reserves cause its unlikely anymore than those there (and then maybe not all of them) will get one. but if somehow more are available or lots pull out, ive got the order that people have posted in here as reference. basically anyone thats not on the list shouldnt wait around for one if they need one, cause its unlikely you'll end up getting one.

hi pete

just tried this out it connects up ok with ecu talk but the gages don't work

when trying to change com port on the tecu it comes up with error opening com.dat file or error opening com port, i press ok then it opens up, i tried double clicking where it says come port in the lower left corner and comes up run time error 8002 invalid port number and then closes.

can you help i am also using vista 32

cheers mitch

other people have commented that ecutalk doesnt work with vista

im guessing by the sounds of things, tecu doesnt either? (you set it to COM2 i assume)

ill have a .net 2.0 version of ecutalk in a month or two which may work better with vista. when i get a new pc setup by end of month ill try dual boot etc with vista so i can try and make sure ecutalk works with it.

tried calumsult? try conzult_free and nissan datascan (can use the dash without buying it)

    • Sorry, are coilovers ACTUALLY ILLEGAL in NSW? They aren't in Vic, as long as they retain 70% of stock travel and the car is above 100mm off the ground. Does NSW actually have a law making coilovers actually illegal? RWC/Blue Slip/Engineering people not knowing the actual f**king laws boils my blood. Demand them to point to the documentation that states a coilover is illegal. (it may exist in NSW )
    • But seriously, can we ask for the results of the "tip a bottle of metho into a nearly empty tank" experiment?
    • Hang on. Let me get this straight. The desire is to have coilovers, BC in particular, to be MORE comfortable on Sydney roads than stock suspension? Well, that's obviously not right. BCs have crude damping design at the very best, and typically hard spring rates. BC stands for Billy Cart. And then, the desire is to put in some shitty old worn out stockers, to get it blue slipped and then put the BCs back in? And then.....what? Not worry about getting pulled up by the Plod? Because you seem to have raised a worry about paying for engineering (which actually does solve all your legality problems) and still getting pulled up.... but the only problem there is that if/when that happens you have to show your paperwork at the inspection station. Whereas, if you just swap in borrowed shitty old stockers to get it slipped now, and then you get defected in the future, you have to go find more shitty old stockers then too. You course of action looks like this set of options: Buy brand new stock type dampers, and springs. probably cost a bit more than $1k all up, but will last for the remaining life of the car. Put them in, pass inspection, drive on them forever more. Hell, they could even be really nice Bilsteins and Kings or other lower&stiffer springs if you wanted. Get the car engineered as is. ~$1k. Buy new Shockworks coilvers (or MCA) and also pay for engineering. You're spending a lot more here. But these will be the best things that you could drive around on.
    • Might be worthwhile hitting up Facebook's groups, I know most of them contain terrible people and scammers - however you might be able to find someone that's in Sydney with factory suspension you could purchase and/or hire. Just do not send any form of money anywhere, in person cash only.
