Hey guys just looking for a bit of help here....my mate is having an RB25DE auto put into his R32 four door and at the moment he is having trouble finding an exhaust for it, he only wants to get something cheap and reliable just so he can get it out of the workshop as the guy is really stuffing him around. the tradey is quoting $1000 for the exhaust but i think that is ridiculous for what my mate is looking for...any suggestions or help would be great, as my mate is getting soo frustrated that he almost wants to sell the car...!

Cheers, TYP.

im pretty sure he can use the standard exhaust system from the RB20, my understanding is most of the RB20 and Rb25 parts are interchangable.

if not get RB25 headers into the standard cat back or what ever he has in place.

if the mechanic is screwing him over get him to tow the car to a more respectable workshop that will help him out

yeah i thought that the RB series would all have the same block so theoritcally as long as there is no size problem or back-pressure problems it should work....but i can't believe it is so hard to find one, if anyone in sydney has an RB20 ehxaust or one that will fit for the a 32 sedan(any condition as long as it works) i would be greatful for it...

Also would an RB25DET exhaust work or is it too big or have different design/add-ons for turbo?

This is all the car needs to be back on the road i think(not sure) so i am searching far and wide for it. the tradey reckons that he is the first in Oz to put a RB25DE in a 32 four door and says that is the reason it is so hard and expensive...i think he is full of it and taking my mate for a ride...

any jap wrecker should have one, even get an aftermarket one made from the exhaust shop just make it in cheap mild steel for now.

the 2dr exhausts fit its just short by 100mm or something like that, cant be too hard to weld some pipe in to make it longer if needed.

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
