Importing Costs From Usa?

Hey Guys,

I'm looking at importing a few parts from the US and want to gauge how much the item will cost me in total. That is after GST, quarantine(?), and other such costs involved in getting it into Australia.

Details of item.

Under 5kg

Size 40cmx40cmx40cm

Value of item approx AU$240

Nothing dangerous or illegal of course

If anyone has bought similar items from the US or have experience in this area could you give me some costs, advice etc.

If it was sent by post, no GST or import duty payable for goods under $1000 (incl postage) Look up the Customs website for the fact sheet on 'importing goods - buying over the internet.'

Going off the USPS postage calculator, an 11lb package shipped by Express Mail International costs US$67 (~AU$100). So all up around $340 or thereabouts.
