Tried to search but didnt find any good answeres..

Installed my Power fc today and started the car, got a good idle after a while and 10 min later i turned on the aircon.

The idle bounces between 400 and 1200 rpm and dosent stop.. somtimes it idles fine for a while but starts bouncing again, oftenly at the same time as the ac turns off.

had the car running for 1,5h but it doesnt get better.

Does anyone have a solution?

Car is R33 GTR V-spec with basic mods, filters, exhaust, larger ic.

I had the same probem in some of my cars with a power fc. I found the learn doesnt really do much. You need to tune the load cells where it is bouncing. I found that adding some fuel to the cell where the revs dop can stop the idel dropping. You can fiddel with it or bring it to a tuner should be fairly easy to fix.

how strange. do you see anything wierd in sensor sw check when the revs are going wonky?

whats battery voltage like when u are doing it? have u done DATA INIT and tried it again?

is the engine warm when u try it ? what if i try it again and skip air con test and just let it do its self learn idle

Not what i can remember, the only activity in the sw check is the ac switching of, then the rev drops and starts bouncing.

didn´t check the battery voltage, the batt is quite new so i doubt that it would cause the problems, can check it again though.

I also tried to reset and start all over again a few times without any changes.

The engine was warm when i did the self learn, will try without switching the aircon on.

Is there any sign from the pfc when the self learn is finnished or that the self learn have started/is processing?

I also saw some people having problems when they had a a-lsd, could it be related to my problems since i have a v-spec?

But that was more about the a-lsd light, mine doesnt show anything strange

Fredrik

the self idle learn takes 30 minutes approx

there is no signal or notice of when its finished, u just have to let it idle unforuntately

try doing it again but skip the aircon part and just let it idle. then once done power it off, back on ensure idle is stable.

then try and turn on the aircon see how that goes

the a-lsd issues with the PFC only appies to the GTST with the active lsd fitted factory

as the gtst PFC does not relay the TPS signal to the a-lsd puter in the boot, you wont have this issue on your GTR

Ok, will try without the aircon later today (it´s still early in the morning here in Sweden).

Oh, forgot to ask in the last post..

Should i see any changes at the idle point in the ign/inj maps after the idle is set or where does it store the "self-learned-idle-stuff"

Thanks for the help >_<

Problem solved!

Did try to redo the idle setup but had the same problem, even without anything on..

Added some fuel to the idle cell got rid of the rev-bounce so i did a complete reset and added fuel to the idle cell before i started the car.

After that everything worked perfectly.

Thaks to everyone who answered

    • From my memory, which isn't that great, we did have issues getting the large throttle body on my old LS1 to play nicely at idle, first it would stall, then it would only idle at 2k rpm, then it would hang at 2k rpm for a few seconds and then drop and stall, then, finally, the best we got was it would hang at 1.5k rpm for a few seconds then drop to around 800 rpm The tuner stated that large cable throttle bodies are a PITA, and if I wanted anything better than what we ended up with I would need a electronic throttle body and all of the aftermarket ECU stuff to run it
    • So, my intake arrived  I'm not happy with the coating finish so I went to Supercheap and got some black wrinkle paint and some prep stuff I was initially thinking about using grey wrinkle paint, but finding a quality product that gives the texture I want was "unfindable...", so the tried and tested black wrinkle paint is again finding its way into the engine bay for the OEM look I'll sneakily head into work and get the big ovens cranking to cure the paint over the next week or so I've also contacted MX5 Mania today to talk about the install and tune, so painting it is my "main effort" prior to sending the car off In other news, the correspondence from the US supplier is fair to midling to say the least, I'm still trying to track down the intake box thingie with the larger intake pipe to suit the throttle body, it still is "awaiting fulfilment" (no stock currently available), if it isn't here soon I'll just get MX5 Mania to fabricate up a CAI that is easy to service the air filter
