So there is a ratio differance between the R32 gtst (4.363-1) and the gts-4 (4.375-1).this is interesting to me as I've just bought what I thought was a gtr full Diff disc to disc.As I'm dissassembling it I've noticed its a viscus diff in it witch means to me its a gts-4 diff which I bought for the bigger drive shafts (I keep braking my gtst one's )So are the half shafts inter changable between the two ?

cheers Peter

Legend.. I can't comment on the R33 NA GTS4 diff's but the R32 GTS4 diff's are 100% mechanical. Well the one that I saw was and others have also stated they are mechanical. :)

The J30 diff runs the same pumpkin and 6bolt half shafts as a GTR/GTS4 BUT is viscous and runs a higher diff ratio. Before I bought my current mechanical I bought what was supposed to be a GTR pumpkin and axles which turned out to be a viscous unit. The dodgy jap importer *no names mentioned* sold the bits as a GTR rear end but swapped out the diff center for a cheap J30 viscous unit.

What ratio is yours? Its stamped on the crown wheel.

Hi Cubes

Still pulling it down atm only got it today ,as soon as I get it all apart I'll post up some pic's. I bought it as an 90 gtr diff complete. But the cradle is an R32 one some slight differances in the hicas setup as most parts bolt to top of diff

Cheers Peter .

A good way I test the diff is to get the car on 3 wheels leaving one of the rears up in the air (easily done if you have stiff suspension)

Then apply some torque slowly while turning the wheel, with a mechanical LSD the car should take off, a worn out diff or a vlsd would spin the lifted wheel and you will remain on the same spot.

Is that a good way of doing it guys? correct me if im wrong?

Cheers

    • Welcome. Dont let anyone dissuade you from your dreams. If you want a gtr, keep sabing and you will eventually get one. I feel like if I had have bought stocks, those companies would have gone bust and I would have lost my money.  There's a gamble in everything we buy. I've had good times and bad. But... I've also met my absolute best friend through this network and can't imagine life without them(more like a brother). Keep in mind, some specific mods will change as technology gets better. If you feel like general chat, there's always the wasteland.....
    • Those are some very cutesy barriers! Is that common?
    • Saw this abandoned Honda Fit in a carpark that was getting repaved... they just 'cut around it' and continued with the job! There's a number of reasons why the car could have been abandoned, but as for the construction company, legally they don't have permission to move the car from the owner (who has moved on and can't be contacted) so all they can do it just leave it there with enough space around it so it won't get damaged.
    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
