Can I ask why the sump and oil pump is not there and how long has it being out of rego.

Thanks Andrew

needed a new oil pump and in the process of taking the oil pump out the oil sump was cracked...

been out of rego for 3 months

Can you tell us a bit more about the car?

Any mods?

Any accident history?

Some better photos of the scratch in the bonnet and the sump where its cracked?

How long have you had the car?

Any other problems you have had/fixed prior to this one?

Was it last registered in your name?

Where are you located?

Cheers mate

it all sounds too good to be true.i mean this car was purchased by you from someone else on these forums for $18k , which the seller stated the same problem with oil pump and yet youve taken delivery of the car and have decided its too hard to fix as well??? i think that the most people would see the motor fail before they would realise that the oil pump is cactus! i know that if i were driving down the road in my car and the oil pump ceased to work anymore or the sump was cracked i would probably not notice the problem until the engine stopped ie; my eyes are on the road more than the oilpressure gauge.

thanks for your input mate!

Ive been through hell and back having had both my cars broken into just 2 weeks ago hence the reason Im selling not your assumption of too hard to fix.... Im gutted having to sell it!!! Unless your interested in buying this car dont post here..............

may be iam interested in buying the car that is why iam asking you the tuff questions ...

You havent asked any questions you have made assumptive comments...

If you have questions I will answer them.

If you have comments please do not post here.

BigCarl you make some very worthwhile comments,

I am also interested in this vehicle although it does seem like there is more to the engine problems than just the sump and oil pump whether Dan knows about them or not, having not had the car running I would assume he does not.

And Dan i'm sorry that we are not asking questions but your thread is the logical place to get info from other skyline owners/enthusiasts about what the potential buyer might be up for when purchasing your car.

I think if you want your money back for the car you should get a written mechanics report from a reputable skyline workshop because anyone buying this is taking quite a risk and therefore is reluctant to part with their hard earned when they could be up for a big bill before even getting behind the wheel.

That said, i'm considering coming to have a look at it with some equip to check the engine out and have a good look at it. I'll pm you when I can work out a day to get time off work and we can arrange it.

Cheers mate

Guys I just want to say, this car is listed at $18990 for gods sake...

Obviously there is a risk with buying anything and I cant assure the engine is fine but thats the reason its listed for $18990ono....

Its not like Im asking $26000...

Inspections are welcome anytime...

yes but $18990 plus $8500 for a rebuild equals $27499! another question why is there no timing belt? i rest my case ...

timing belt is in the boot, was taken off along with the radiator and condensor to change the oil pump and sump...........

What are you trying to achieve by putting the car down so much???

Its either you want to buy or you dont...

Plus $18990 is the asking price, its not set in stone...

    • You will now be able to lift the parcel shelf trim enough to get to the shock cover bolts; if you need to full remove the parcel shelf trim for some reason you also remove the escutcheons around the rear seat release and you will have to unplug the high stop light wiring from the boot. Next up is removal of the bracket; 6 nuts and a bolt Good news, you've finally got to the strut top! Remove the dust cover and the 3 shock mount nuts (perhaps leave 1 on lightly for now....) Same on the other side, but easier now you've done it all before
    • OK, so a bunch of trim needs to come off to get to the rear shock top mounts. Once the seat is out of the way, the plastic trim needs to come off. Remove 2 clips at the top then slide the trim towards the centre of the car to clear the lower clip Next you need to be able to lift the parcel shelf, which means you need to remove the mid dark trim around the door, and then the upper light trim above the parcel shelf. The mid trim has a clip in the middle to remove first, then lift the lowest trim off the top of the mid trim (unclips). At the top there is a hidden clip on the inner side to release first by pulling inwards, then the main clip releases by pulling the top towards the front of the car. The door seal comes off with the trim, just put them aside. The the lighter upper trim, this is easy to break to top clips so take it carefully. There is a hidden clip towards the bottom and another in the middle to release first by pulling inwards. Once they are out, there are 3 clips along the rear windscreen side of the panel that are hard to get under. This is what the rear of the panel looks like to assist:
    • Yes. Autos typically work from the speed sensor on the pinion shaft of the diff. I also think that even if you have a proper speed sensor for the bog manual in the manual box, that the signal it outputs is not compatible with the auto dash anyway. You should consult that manual (the book, not the gearbox).
    • And I just realised that that advice is slightly nonsensical for a GTR, because you need 2 of them. But it is otherwise true.
    • Having had a reasonable look at the car, I'll be able to remove the (one time) rams and retract the hinge (they are held in the down location by a tiny (m3?) sacrificial screw) which will get it physically back in shape. From there if you remove the rams you need a resistor to turn off the airbag light (as Mark said, there are plug in kits and I might go that way because its reversible). And...per all the threads on here, even if you have the resistors to turn off the airbag light, the bonnet light will stay on as it writes to the airbag computer history - that is either replace the airbag controller, reprogam the EPROM (if I can work out how), or remove the globe from the dash. Having seen how sensitive this system is, if I had my time over I'd pre-emptively remove the rams, even on a road car, because this is all a very unnecessary pain in the arse. Reminds me, time to go and have a look at the Fuga too....
