dan.1337
Since yesterday my idle has been revving from 600rpm to 1000rpm and then dropping back to 600 and doing it all over again. It happens when my engine is warm and at operating temperature. I was told the map sensor is very sensitive and a bad batch of fuel could be affecting the tune, so it is hunting on idle. Would anyone konw what's going on? Thanks! mad082
i'm pretty sure it's iac, not iaac. but yes, those 2 valves are usually responsible for 90% of the problems like this. mad082
it can be a bit of a pain to get off. it is situated at the back of the plenum on the drivers side. trying to disconnect the lower hoses is the hard bit. just out of curiosity, has this affected your vacuum vacuum on your boost gauge? is it closer to zero that it used to be? mad082
no. carby cleaner cleans carbon deposits it. wd40 is basically just an oil. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/175949-idle-revving-between-600rpm-to-1000rpm/#findComment-3221529 Share on other sites

dan.1337
If anyone is after carby cleaner, Repco has it on special now. I paid $3.80 for a huge can of it. BAMR33
It won't be the iac as this gets progressively worse, not instantly... Check for popped off/cracked hoses, particularly between BOV and manifold. BAMR33
Also motortech carby cleaner is shit, 50 cans of it isn't worth $3.80. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/175949-idle-revving-between-600rpm-to-1000rpm/#findComment-3224687 Share on other sites
cosworth1971
dont u need to adjust the idle with wires disconected from the throttle to 650-850 then turn the cars off plug wires back in and its all calibrated to that? i know if my idle isnt set to the computer it hunts?? usually on TPS cars u need to do this so cold start and warm start work properly Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/175949-idle-revving-between-600rpm-to-1000rpm/#findComment-3225463 Share on other sites
mad082
this is a problem that occurs on cars that haven't had any adjustment done. it will just pop up all of a sudden. then you clean the valve and it goes away.
