as the topic states today i bought a fujitsubo 2.5" cat-bak exhaust 2nd hand for $150 bought it locally from rolin imports in burleigh on the gold coast. i have some pics up and will install it this weekend. The exhaust is stamped fujitsubo and jasma. just wanted to know how much this exhaust would cost brand new? also some stories about the performance of the exhaust if youve installed it on your na skylines? as well as the sound of it (sound files if available).

p.s any tips on undoing the exhaust bolts?

thanks guys pics are attached (this will be installed on my r32 gts25)

hey mate. fujitsubo are a good exhaust. i got a video here

of mine with a 2.5inch fujitsubo cat back. there not cheap i know that so for 150 bucks you got a bargain. if you need to get the exhaust bolts off torque wrench or breaker bar something long that you can apply more force with. just make sure you dont strip the bolts

just measured the width of the pipe and it actually is 3" not 2.5" i was misinformed by rolin automotive. how will this affect the engine? ive heard it will drone a lot but i always have the music up so it doesnt matter.i will still put it on just need these q's answered first.

my standard cat has a 2" outlet hole with flange, the exhaust has a 3" inlet hole with flange, the bolt holes for the cat flange and the exhaust flange are the same (11cm apart from middle of bolt hole to middle of bolt hole) so im guessing this will fit right??

can i buy new exhaust flanges from supercheap?

p.s later on i will throw a turbo on my car so it saves me having 2 buy a 3" when i do.YAY!

thanks again

sorry for the long post

well i take that back the jealousy then.

how will it affect the engine?

- it will be a pig to drive

- absolutely gutless at low rpm

- the sound will be like you said droney

- you will use more fuel

- more power at a higher rpm

flange sizes should fit, if not just re-weld a new set on at your local exhaust shop.

don't think supercheap carry flanges.

that is the silliest thing i've ever heard... it's not like you're doing any favors to your wallet by getting your exhaust out of the way.

the increase in fuel, emissions and power loss may annoy you long before you begin your conversion. but each to their own.

just keep in mind that the amount of kw you have is not an indication of how quick/well performing your car is.

You loose backpreassure due to not having enough volumetric vacume (WOOO! I USED IT EUGENE! :D )

I silencer will do nothing besides add weight and make your car slightly quieter..

Only way you can get ur back preasure back.. is.. go to a smaller zorst..

The exhaust sounds sweet, it is drony and i have lost my bottom end but my top end torque feels great, will post up an audio file of it soon, wat should i use to record it?

hmm is the opposite true? meaning that if I have a 2.5inch and i put a silencer in, it won't cause it to be restrictive again?

cheers

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
