Hi Guys,

Bit of a book here, but I hope it all helps.

In March our CD player in our car started playing up, it would click for about 30 seconds whenever you started the car, sounded like a grinding of the trays on the 6 stacker. Anyway after months of looking for the solution to this problem I finally went about getting stuck into the unit to find the problem and to try and fix it.

Now there is a lot of information in www.g35driver.com

in regards to this problem, it seems to happen a fair amount and usually the best way to fix it is to take it to the dealer for a replacement under warranty. However seeing as most of our cars do not come with a Nissan Warranty we are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I followed the instructiions provided on the g35Ipod install DIY as well as the many DIY on the g35driver site.

All the information is fantastic.

Now I finally got the unit out and had a proper look around, it appears that there is a problem with the actual CD player and not the trays themselves.... I am ok with that, as I finally have all the CD's out so there is no Clicking noise any more... However and I must stress this... There is a white connector that goes between the Radio Controls Circut Board and the Radio Unit itself... The little metal filiments are very fragile and are prone to flaking whilst you work on the unit. Once I completed the work on the unit, I started to reassemble everything... But the filiment had broken off slightly on the one end... poooof!!!! Fried the LCD / LED Radio Display ....

So now we are on the hunt for a new unit. I will go through Nissan Aust to see what prices we are looking at for a whole unit and also for the Display Unit....

Start Counting the Dollars Gentleman.

ouchies that will cost you mate.be thinking in the hundreds of $ possibly 1k or more.

i f i was in your situation i would consider replacing the unit with an aftermarket double din cd/md player.Hopefully the bose /clarion unit is not necessary for the cars normal functioning like the dvd rom unit is....chris will know

For the Circuit Board we are looking at around $250

For the whole unit +/- $700 if that is the case... Pioneer DVD / Touch Screen Install...

Will keep you all posted

there are aftermarket leads available to make the bose amp work with other units. just a thought:)

thats the best option.

can they be ordered thru FAST or from a japparts importer?

hopefully the lead isnt too expensive.

so is the lead universal,or would you need one for sony, one for pioneer etc?

jap parts will do the facia bits. the leads come from elsewhere.

I'll have to check if the local supplier i deal with has them.

waz,

yep same guy. I'll probably make these since the last one was 180deg out!

the DVD one will depend on demand. I'm not going to fork out $500 for 1000 plugs (persay) and not get a return on it. your lead will determine if he can get the plugs. again I'll probably make this one too.

its all packed up ready to ship out in the morn.

leads are universal (for nissan bose ) . there is not a plug and play solution for these cars.

only thing it will affect is the external audio. IE nav and TV. that can be fixed if you use the correct radio :) (IE blaupunkt.)

btw leads are available here :) I checked today. think twice if you are going to swap this thing out as it will not be a cheap exercise.

I had a call today about this from a fellow with a 250GT asking a similar question so I thought I would clear this up.

to do it properly with a screen - no real change from $2k.

Chris,

Already looked at that. not sre it the unit is the same, but the controls and facia circuit board are completely different,

Was thinking of getting the parts in Dubai at an Infinty Dealer as they are cheaper than here.

Got the costs from Nissan I was way off.

Facia $1160

6 Stack CD Player / Radio $ 2400

Any Ideas?

I was looking at another question actually. seems the cd mech in these things dies so IF a 350Z was teh same it would be a direct swap. I do know that the 04 pathfinder unit runs the same board (sans front panel in your case.) and same controls internally. been down that route looking at another question.

so what EXACTLY is wrong with yours??

have you given autotainment a ring yet (since you are in perth.) ?? was talking to him about a few other things and your topic pooped up. give him a bell - may be able to help.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
