oh wait up did you drop it in with the gear box still in the car??? i have a gts4 with a gtr gear box so i have the same crap to go through as you just have. how long did it take ya?

hi mate took me 4 hours from start to finish. had to drop the anti roll bar and power steering cooler, but that was because i have a trust sump extension. i lined the gearbox input shaft up with the clutch then with a jack dropped the gearbox mount down and slid the engine on,quite easy really.

yea im having all sorts of trouble with mine. first time ive ever done anything like this. and i seem to suck at it so far. when you say aligned the shaft with the clutch is there some sort of an extension tool that u can slide on the spline of the shaft an then stick the other end into the clutch? eeeergh... i just know in the morning when i wake up im going to be up for headaches. really need a second person to work the crane while ya line it up. how long was your car off the road? also it looks like you rebuilt that yourself?? i take it your a mechanic then?

hi mate,no hang the engine off the crane so it slopes slightly rearwards. then lower in and guide the front shaft of the gearbox into the clutch then lower it in. you need to lower the gearbox rear so its at the same angle as the engine. then lower the engine in so it lines up.as you lower push the engine onto the gearbox keeping it all lined up. no i am not a mechanic, but yes i did build mine myself.. bernie

hey man

there is such thing as a clutch alignment tool, the best tool i have ever made was when i cut the front shaft off the front of my Nissan Blue Bird gearbox which i would put in the clutch and slide into the spiggot bush then tighten the clutch and make sure the shaft can slip in and out easily then your set for putting the box in properly in the car, it has to be nearly 100% to slide in first go.

fired the old girl up today, no water in her just a quick 5 mins, went first time on the button, no oil leaks just a little raspy for me,could be the forgies being new and all, will see what it like when the water goes in and she runs longer,, oil pressure 100 psi on 20/50 asda special

just done a 10 mile drive in it. i tell you guys these motors are totally different to drive than a 26, and the sound from my exhaust is unbelievable. smooth aswell. i get positive boost on the avcr from 2000 rpm any gear. thats with a turbo rated to 700bhp. well chuffed. when its run in and opened up ,man it will go some.its trying to go now and its only done 11miles.lol

well its done 60 miles now on the crap 20/50 multigrade oil, been to 1.1 bar @ 5500 rpm on that oil. just dropped the oil and put some mineral 15/50,s in will run that for a hundred and fifty miles and that will be the run in done..probably gonna be jan 4 when it gets mapped as the tuners nearby are all fully booked and i cant have time off in dec.

Sounds ace. Very well presented and good luck.

Hopefully my rb25/30 will be finished and on the road before Christmas.

Just something i noticed:

You air pod/filter has a reducer cone, then you have a silicon hose attached to increase the size to match the intake pipe. Wouldn't you be better off to remove the pod reducer cone and fabricate another cone to match the pod diameter and the intake pipe. Just thinking you may be causing some minor restrictions with the current set-up.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
