Hi, just wanna know where you guys go seriving your skylines, what engine/gear oil, oil filter you would use? Is there any Genuine Nissan Oil and Filters? or you think the others are better?

Plus, is the UAS(unique autosport) reliable, I am saying, even for the service? Or if anyone know any good mechanic workshops near Homebush NSW please let me know. I just got a skyline and have no idea about these.....

cheers~~~

Use Castrol Edge 10W-40. It's not cheap but its the best.

Filters are much of a muchance. I don't think you can go wrong with the Ryco filters.

Make sure you don't buy a filter from an R33 or R32, as they don't fit.

UAS will be fine. They are a great workshop.

UAS is good.

I used all Motul oils on my car

Gear 300 - Gearbox

90PA - Diff

300V CHrono 10w40 - Engine

Also had the Nismo filter on my car, but i just stuck with stock this time around.

+1 for Joel at castle hill, the Mechanic who works for him is very good. never skips a step which is why I keep returning.

I dont use his oils however, if your changing your oil every 5,000 it wouldnt matter but im a lazy shit and change every 10,000 but use super high quality oil which always comes out nice :D Motul or Mobil 1 full sythetics ive used 0-40w but id recommend 5-40w or 5-50w comming into summer.

If you just got the car do the following.

Lube hinges

New spark plugs (gapped at 0.8) will remove flat spots use NGK irridums

Oil change

Wiper change

Gearbox oil change (Redline Shockproof)

Transmission change (redline) expensive so alternative is castrol.

Rotate and inspect wheels

Check all globes work

Replace Fuel filter

Complete flush of coolant system.

After all work complete disconnect battery at neg terminal and apply brakes (to waste any electricity in system) this will reset your standard ecu, a spirited drive after a warm up drive would be a good idea to get the car back to optimum consumption of fuel. This ecu is critcal as it will make sure everything is firing at the right period in time.

Hope that helps you some, www.exciteautos.com.au if u ring say Nathaniel sent you.. he'll look after you :D

yeah, i've been told to stay clear of ryco. Just got OEM Nissan, their filters are still cheap.

I didn't think Castrol Edge was a true synthetic? Or it was from a lower grade base oil? Ie, not Group 4 or higher?

Also running Mobil 1 0w40 in my 34, but will switch up to Redline next change. Figure oil is one of the most important things, especially for a turbo car, may as well go for the best.

Thanks heaps guys....

Just wanna know....how much for those engine/gear oils...

In the UAC website it says $220 for the general service which including the Motul 4100 synthetic oils.....

So if I wanna change to the Redline oils....how much extra I have to pay......

Cheers~~~!

    • Man, different parts but the same numbers is terrible @dbm7! And it doesn't help that most online shops don't list the part numbers at all. They just give a list of compatible models...
    • Slow when hot could also be because its getting more dynamic compression, OR things are getting a bit tighter once it is all expanded. If it were an earthing issue, typically I'd expect you to have it have issues all the time. Unless it's really a combination of both things. Where the higher compression, and things being a bit tighter, is giving that bit of extra load and you do need a slight clean up on the cables/connections.
    • Yeah, this is one of the most annoying things about nissan part numbers... I've got an unrelated example... Image is of the AT output shaft ~ they have the same part#, but clearly the shaft on the left is beefier design to that on the right ...the difference (essentially) is the 'lighter' shaft on the right, is for engines up to RB25DE (this includes RB20 variants) : the shaft on the left is for RB25/26DET(T)....are they interchangeable? Yes...but obviously one shaft is going to be stronger than the other...and, the lighter shaft is around USD115, but the heavier shaft closer to USD150...same part#... ...epc-data usually tells a tale ~ the amayama listing for 39100-23U60 has a note "Longest side is between 60 and 105 cm" ; no such info is there for 39100-23U70 ...and given the great disparity in price between the 2 parts, it makes me at least curious (to the point of caution) where the 'extra money' went? ...ie; these 2 parts have a cost difference that (to myself at least) isn't explained by 'plastic boot'...ie; with amayama there's AUD700 price difference ...plastic versus rubber?...I'm not seeing it like that...and 60cm ~ 105cm...??...that's a huge disparity....something hinky going on here... I'd try searching by VIN, not model... /2cents
    • I don't know for sure, but I'd expect them all to be interchangeable given the diff end and hub end don't move/change between any C34 series. Often Nissan will change part numbers and the aftermarket follows those year ranges; but the original part number change doesn't mean other parts won't fit. The change could be a change in material, internal parts or even just supplier. For example, all the RB gearbox to engine bolts are no longer available and there is a new part number instead. The only change is they went from cadmium plated bolts to zinc plated due to the issues manufacturing with Cadmium. They look different but work the same.
    • One year is a bit concerning. Did you try contacting GSP? It says 5 year warranty on the box if I remember correctly. I'm also running their driveshafts on my S2 Stagea.   You could check the part numbers on Amayama for your year. Here's the link for my 1998 which gives the 39100-23U60 part number. Well, that and 39100-23U70. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/trans/391 What does it say for yours?
