Whoa, damn - not good news! :ermm: Hope it doesn't take them as long *this* time around!

got it back today, just now in fact

turbo timer installed

a little buzzing from rear fuel pump that I didn't notice before fingers crossed this is ok

here's hoping for some trouble-free motoring over summer

they sorted out shudder in brakes which was due to cheap pads so they machined discs and put some decent ones on for those that were talking about that in some other thread

gasssed up and ouch that hurt price has gone skywards in two months

road trip looming

I have not had any troubles with mine at all so far ( touch wood ). Exept with the but munching but plug of an importer. I do have a heap of suspention bits from when I had the coil-overs installed. Not sure whats there yet have not stuck my nose in the box. But if I have something that can help out in that lill box of wonders, will be more than willing to send it to you for the cost of postage. I will not need them again. Once you install coil-overs you will never go back. The ride is sooooo much better.

Thanks for that offer. I might take you up on it. Would there be a problem getting them to me in NZ? I neeed the bushes for multi link suspension it seems as these are worn/damaged mainly on right hand side but left not too clever either.

The attessa pumps (2 of them) are on the right hand rear and reservoir is above them inside the right hand cubby in the NM35. Just pull it out and you will see it. The buzzing was caused by too much air and not enough liquid in the system. The mechanic had not realised how much was needed. Problem resolved by bleeding and topping up.

Would pay to check on level in reservoir from time to time but the AWD orange warning light comes on when it gets low and I think the pump shuts out. Not exactly sure what this fluid gets used for.

The pumps run what is called Super HICAS. This is a 4 wheel steering system that only works to help with steering above 40kmh(i think that is the speed). It hydraulically alters the angle of the rear wheels by up to 1.5 degrees. This assists in high speed stability. It does not help with low speed maneuvering.

Cheers

Isn't HICAS only on the AR-X? Mine is an RS-Four 250T

I think some of the 250TRS had the HICAS. Where you described is where the HICAS is on my ARX. Just behind the right hand back wheel on a small shelf. Sounds like you may have the HICAS on your car.

If you like I can take a pic of the set up on my car and post it for you?

yeah do that

These are pictures from the back of the car.

The first pic is of the diff showing the arm that is hydralically moved. The whole arm moves enough to move the wheel about 1 degree. Thi is at the rubber cover.

2 -4 show the shelf behind the back right wheel with all the workings above.

Hope this helps.

That second pic from left looks very similar to what I have. I'm going into the workshop this morning so I'll take another look to see if the rest are. Now that I've taken it for a decent drive there seems to be a flutter as I back off the power coming from somewhere in the centre of the engine and the power band is different than before. Petrol consumption is up I think and I'm not sure that the kw's are the same as standard. They may be lower. The turbo seems to work in a more progressive way and has more lag. I took out transferrable extended warranty yesterday for thee years up to and including the market valuer of the car, which means I can have repairs done up to $NZ 5,000 for any one claim if things go wrong and to the value of the car over the lifetime of the policy.

In sourcing replacement bushes for my suspension I have found out that some are individually replaceable at reasonable cost (ex Japan) but others come with the suspension arm attached and cost a pretty penny as in several hundred apiece. Still hard to find second hand parts here and haven't heard of any after market kit for the M35's. Has anyone here?

under 90k

bushes seem to be stagea's weak spot; for me anyway

I am looking into after market suspension for my NM35 now. Once I find out what is available I will let you know. I have seen that there is a bilstien set. I am also looking into replacing the sway bars.

    • Hi, i’m making a rb25det coil loom for Vag short coil. Can anybody tell me which Ecu signal wire belong to coil number 1 and 2,3,4,5,6? The connecting switch in above pic is 8 wire i think white is for +12v and black for earth.
    • Was there ever a model of the Stagea m35 that didnt have a badge on the grill? I thought I saw that somewhere, some aero edition or something? I cant find it again? davemoto
    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
