hey guys i just got back my r33 GTS with rb25det conversion, all has been great with the car and it hasnt missed a beat, however i have encounted this squeeking and first instints was it was the fan belt, i had a look this morning, and it is coming from around the altenator, could this be a possible loose belt? the noise was only came on during start up now, it is constant, i think it is possibly the bearings in the altenator? i have done the old, soap on the inside of the fan belt to use a dry lubricant to try stop the squeak, however it is still contant, any ideas on wat to do or try?

2nd part, is that i want to intall my apexi full auto timer for turbo and N/A, however, just want to know the basics of installation, any problems i may come accross and things to watch out for?

Any help on these two issues would be muchly appeciated!

Cheers, hame :P

easy way 2 check is the slackness in the belt u shouldnt b able to push the belt down more than 1cm. if it is more than that tighten it up and make sure the bolt at the back is toght. mine was a little bit loose and the belt was working loose and squelling. if the noise is still there then the next easy thing 2 do 2 check if it is the alternator is take the belt off completely and start the car up if the noise isnt there thats ur prob. hope that helps

hey man, yeah it think it is a little bit loose! can push down 1cm or little more, what do you mean the bolt @ the back? how do you tighten the fan belt? i'll wait for a reply on this and if this does not work i'll take off the belt and try again.

REGARDING TIMER, do you have to use a turbo timer harness?

if u look at the top of the alternator there will be a long bolt going 2wards the motor that will adjust the belt. along that bolt where it goes into the alternator there will b a 12mm bolt or nut i cant rember wat it is but loosen that then turn the long bolt also a 12mm head to tighten the belt up then make sure that u tighten the first bolt other wise it will work itself loose. u should b able 2 push the belt down about 7 -8mm is a good spot. i will try post a photo of the bolt 4 u.

Not to sure bout the turbo timer mine was already fitted when i bought the vehicle.

excellent i think i know the bolts u talking about the one almost horizontal and the other one faced the other way? i'll see how i go. let u know in 5! a pic would help clarify this however.

yeaha they are the ones i was trying to describe, the pics take a while to load. So which one do i loosen first, then the other bolt i use to tighten the belt correct? ... so ticky to get in there..

yeaha i only have a small spanner, and it too confined in there near the radiator hose, plus i have hybrid fmic and the piping is right in the way! so it a paint:(

okies, i have found a longer spanner, the first bolt (the one u can't see in the second pic of urs, well the head of the bolt) is impossible to turn it stiff as, however the long bolt is eaiser, i have losened the long belt, and the fan belt has become lose..this sounding right?

okies, i am looking for a new altenator now, what is compatible for a rb25det series 2?? Is it an easy bolt on bolt off affair?? Think this may solve my problem!!

Has anyone installed an apexi full auto timer to a r33?

If your current alternator is broken get it rebuilt by an auto electrician.

For info on alternator removal and replacement.

The alternator for all R33 RB25DET either S1 or S2 are both the same.

hey guys i bought the 33gts alternator, looks to be in good condition, small differences are:

the 2 x earths on the back and the major positive wire location, this shouldnt be a problem i dont think.

- turbo one is 80amp

- non turbo is 90amp will this matter?

i installing it as we speak let me know what ya's reakon.

Hame

meh! fine so replies! anyhow, i finshed installing the alternator, started her up! YEAHA!!! no squeeling!! i so happy, she all good again! but is the previous post's questions could be answered then that would be appreciated!! AMP difference. I have tightened up my belts even better then they were before i had the car back, i going to pick up the miss's from tafe, so i'll see how she drives. Thanks for the imput the tutorial was great dOOdz apart from i did not take of my FMIC pipe lol was lazy made it a little more frustrating, i did most of the work from under the car as i found it alot more accesible? anyhow thanks for all the imput guys!

hey ive go the same problem at the moment on my 33. pretty much squeels on startup then goes away, but at night time pretty bad.

i did all the spray lubricant and tighten belts but still same, turns out that at night cos heater and lights on squeels heaps but at day with no lights on its fine. so to test starts squeeling at night so turn everything off except lights and is fine :) bit weird but yeah.

so looks like battery is shagged so gonna recharge it. it nothing changes with the squeeling looks like replacing alt!!

ne one else found this lol

    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
