i would have thought most pods styles make a loud sucking noise. my hks one certainly does.

ive been told by my xr8 ute owning friend that all he can hear behind him is this tremendous sucking noise and then a howl as i rocket past hehe

i guess that means i need to remove my muffler!

they all go 'wooosh' some go 'wooooooosh' and many go 'woowooowooosh'

you'll be inside the car listening to your music anyway, so what does it matter?

well i wanna give the people out side it some fing to listen too.. thanks for the demonstrations tho woooooosshhhhh

they won't be able to really hear it unless the bonnet is open anyway.

they all make the woosh suction noise, just go with any.

for the record apexi filters the best, don't know sound wise.

a search should bring up alot of discussions on pod filters/panel filters... you might even find some sound clips from memory. try that.

WOW!.. your technicalities amaze me!..

I cont say about six cylinders.. but when i had one on my pulsar.. at about 3K it sounded similar to a rex..

strange.. I know..

cool?.. you bet!

It was some cheapo brand of filter but made a considerable difference!

i have a apexi DI dual pannel forced pod filter and it gives a considerable amount of sucking noise, but what i'd call loud! i had a FORCE FLOW pod on my vp commodore and it was so loud even on idle.

niceeeee im just going to stick with blitz.... i wanna ask some one wif a blitz pod on an r34 to see if the suction sounds good or not coz if i dont get blitz i think im gonna go k&n or apexi

well there the best 3 filters on the market i say

wrong.

When Im home next.. Autosalong mag did a filter test.. they took something like 14 filters.. from the ceapest being $15 to the top end $180 one.

Wanna know a funny fact?.. The best over all flow and filter reading came from a cheapo one..

http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/index.html new it was here somewhere...

suppose they do not take into account the shitter brands and some other good ones but this is why i use APEXI!

while that may be true cris, the best flow doesn't necessarily mean best filtration. that's the filter's job, if you want good flow then don't run anything at all.

serious? there was a thread on here showing the comparisions? apexi won?

for the record apexi filters the best

*ahem*

according to that comparison, apexi is the best compromise between flow and filtration.

    • Sane enough. Remove the roof liner, because the acid will go everywhere.
    • Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help and experienced opinions.  I have spent a lot of my life working on boats so I'm pretty good with fibreglass. I'll take everybody's advice in here;  I'll cut a little more of the 2nd layer away as it's a bit crunchy rust and also it's sitting high now. Then I'll wire brush it all a bit to get off anything loose, then I'll soak the bejesus out of it all in rust converter. I'll make sure to get a little hose piece and feed it into all the holes and gaps between the roof layers. Then I'll fibreglass up the holes.  Then I'll get a pallet of filler and mix it with 3 buckets of hardener and hope that is enough to build up the roof corner.  Does that sound sane? Is one type of filler better than others for this?
    • My goals for it atm are to get it registered, respray and some mild power gains eventually... I picked up the car from an elderly gentleman near the border of NSW and VIC, its honestly a bit rough and looks like its been driven on a farm (because there was so much dirt underneath). Last week I dropped the subframe and emptied the old fuel out + added a new fuel pump (think the old one went bad from old fuel). Now I'm onto fixing a coolant leak at the rear of the engine + adding a new radiator as the old one is corroded. After that i have a new bumper, coils (as the old were leaking) and lots more
    • Welcome buddy! Plenty on here and YouTube. What are your plans for it? Good luck with the Rwc and Rego bud!
    • Love this so much! Please post a photo when you have a bike on the trailer.  I was a little bit worried about having a tow bar on the Skyline, but having it hidden behind the number plate is genius
