hey all, well my next stage of action is in full swing. I just purchused a 98' Dayz edition Stagea. (for towing the liner to the drags, daily driving, etc) I want to hear from other Tasmanian Stagea owners on how they got on fitting a towbar and who did it and so forth, I will post up a pic or two for the two (possibly more) people interested, I am also seeking a translated manual (not really needed but would be good) , cheers, Damo

Hi - Have you got the car yet?? What you reckon of it??

There are not many of us around, and I dont know anything about getting the towbar fitted. However, as part of compliance I do have a manual of sorts that is in english, it is small but has the important bits, you may have one of these.

Let me know if you are interested in taking a copy, or if you have any typical "what does this button do?" stagea questions....

hey, yeah i have her, picked her up yesterday. Its a 98 Dayz edition, immaculate, still getting used to her, my manuals barely have one bit of english in them, i was told the button next to the auto shifter is some sort of power assist to do with extra power through the rev range?? it has three positions, 1, power, 2, A/T 3, snow... what are the first two?? i also have a switch to left of the steering wheel with a stick diagram of a chassis and wheels with a "S" in the middle i think?? And no i havent seen a lot of stagea's about, although theres a white one that visits often across the road from me, (in D'port), cheers Damo

You have probably already looked but you will find pretty much everything you need to know in here Damo.

I've wanted a stag for a while but for a different reason to most :bunny:

Get some pics up cobber

GMB, yeah thanks i have had a look but may need to do some fine tuning in search, i kinda bought it on a whym, well sort of, i knew the history, it landed here less than 6 months ago from japan, and was sourced privately and was the highest grade at auction. It had one service at a local garage i have a lot to do with, so i jumped on it, plus it has stopped me pouring another 6 or 8 or 10 grand into my skyline, i have to draw the line somewhere in pouring so much money into a gtst......

I'll see if I can find find the time to scan the booklet in at work, it may take me a while to get round to it though, but keep on my back, be glad to do it, just damned busy!!

The button to the left of the steering wheel with the "S" is to do with the AWD system. The AWD defaults all the time to 95% rear wheels, 5% front. So dont back off going around a corner, cos it'll revert back to RWD before it gets a chance to think about engaging the front. It shifts the power to where it is getting grip, and on take off will shift some power to the front. The "S" button simply resets the default power split to 50% rear, 50% front. Ive only used it to go flat out up my parents drive way, so much GRIP!!

You must have an S1 as your button next to your shift is diff to mine, so I'm not quite sure, except the snow button basically keeps the revs low by not changing down gears, ie will not use first for example. The Stagea discussions will have most stuff.

Post some pics, the Dayz kit is nice....

Snow mode takes off in 2nd, 'slips the clutch' to stop breaking traction. It's good for muddy grass etc.

Power holds gears for longer.

Well, that's what our S1 does!

As for towbars, we want one too (only for general duties - box trailer) so if a group of us get together, we can get some made. Either that or I'm just going to make one myself!

Cheers, Greg.

yep all good, now when you slip it out of power mode into the A/T position what does this signify? as for the towbar, well im approaching a local buisnees on the nw coast, i think theres a third person here in tas on the forums who also wants one, i will ask for a small group price if you like, Btw when i bought the stagea the guy had lost the original key virtually after he bought it, from this im assuming it has no original immob/alarm system standard/factory fitted,, any idea how much a replacment key from nissan is? I think i will just go ahead and get an aftermarket kit and tap into the central locking kit.

cheers Damo

Its a long shot but I have a towbar which was mounted to my HR31 Skyline coupe; its actually a genuine Nissan Australia item.

I don't want it. I don't think its even worth a case but maybe a 6 pack of a nice beer , or nothing, I'm sick of it in my carport. Pointless on an R31 import, hook on a trailer and you'd have about 6 degrees of negative camber in the back, f**king trailing arm shit...

Could be a goer or relatively easily adapted. Yours if you want to try it.

ok, wouldnt hurt to try, any idea what towing capacity it would be rated to as would need to look at 1500-2000kg. where abouts are you?
