Hi ACT guys and gals,

I'm looking at getting rid of my spacers in the early new year and have found some replica GT-Cs on Tempe's website. They are 18 x 7.5 with a +31 offset or a +40 offset.

Does anyone know if these will fit ok on a R33 GTST without the need for spacers on the front or rear?

Cheap rims are normally heavier, as they are made of different type of alloy. Due to the mass of the rim, it takes more torque to get moving (slower acceleration), more difficult to turn (something to do with centrigual force). Because of the type of alloy, the rims are less forgiving to incidents and seem to crack, rather than give.

Yeh, i understand that cheap rims are a lot heavier and not made to the same quality, thats why they are cheap. I already have some Volk Racing GT-C's on the car which I will use for the motorkhana's, hill climbs, wakefield...

I don't exactly plan to have an incident in the car (as most people wouldn't), and yes, i know stuff happens.

I'm keen to buy these http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Go...De-t197378.html but I'm not going to lay down the money until I can guarantee fitment without spacers. Its a lot of money to throw away otherwise... Can anyone confirm it asap so I could make an offer to the guy?

(Sorry guys, i'm not disagreeing with any of you, I just figured cheap rims for around town aren't going to be so much of an issue. But as you say, throw more penny's at rims for quality, I will, if ^^ these ^^ fit, i'll buy them now)

These wheels should be fine for an R33 Gtst, being an 18x8 35+ and 18x9 38+ they should sit very close to where the standard rims would.

If the rears were 40+ they would be better but being 38+ just means that they will sit further out by 2mm (not much really) :rofl:

I dont see there being an issue with clearance of either guards, brakes or inner guard covers.

In saying that I never recommend buying wheels that you arent able to test fit first, but that may be a bit difficult in this instance.

You will need to do a bit of research on the best tyre fitment though (I can help you there).

If it were me, I would buy the Volk's not the cheaper imitations. :)

Oh ok, I read the thread wrong, sorry.

I would ask if they have been on a GTst before, but I dont see them being a problem.

They will sit a fair bit further out towards the guards than the standard rims - you will have an extra inch on the inner and outer of the rears over a standard GTst wheel.

The fronts will be slightly less than a half an inch on the outside and slightly more on the inside over standard.

The extra O.D. (overall diameter) means that you will need pretty low profile tyres, but that shouldnt be a problem... I would say - 235 / 40 R18 front and 265 / 35 R18 rear.

Hmmm....wouldn't that mean the OD would be smaller on the rear?

Not neccesarly... You cant compare tyre O.D's from one tyre brand to another because they are only relative within their own brand.

The Federal 595's in 235 / 40 R18 have an O.D of 642mm

and the same tyre in 265 / 35 R18 is 643mm

Not one tyre brand has exactly the same measurements as another because its not an exact science.

    • Yeah well per the video it took 15s for the stock unit to start up....even if I give it a few seconds discount for starting that is at least 12 sec before you get a reverse camera if you are trying to leave a park.  The android unit is way faster, but 2016 for the stock unit is a long time ago in consumer electronics

    • Next on the to-do list was an oil and filter change. Nothing exciting to add here except the oil filter is in a really stupid place (facing the engine mount/subframe/steering rack). GReddy do a relocation kit which puts it towards the gearbox, I would have preferred towards the front but there's obviously a lot more stuff there. Something I'll have to look at for the next service perhaps. First time using Valvoline oil, although I can't see it being any different to most other brands Nice... The oil filter location... At least the subframe wont rust any time soon I picked up a genuine fuel filter, this is part of the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank. Access can be found underneath the rear seat, you'll see this triangular cover Remove the 3x plastic 10mm nuts and lift the cover up, pushing the rubber grommet through The yellow fuel line clips push out in opposite directions, remove these completely. The two moulded fuel lines can now pull upwards to disconnect, along with the wire electrical plug. There's 8x 8mm bolts that secure the black retaining ring. The fuel pump assembly is now ready to lift out. Be mindful of the fuel hose on the side, the hose clamp on mine was catching the hose preventing it from lifting up The fuel pump/filter has an upper and lower section held on by 4 pressure clips. These did take a little bit of force, it sounded like the plastic tabs were going to break but they didn't (don't worry!) The lower section helps mount the fuel pump, there's a circular rubber gasket/grommet/seal thing on the bottom where the sock is. Undo the hose clip on the short fuel hose on the side to disconnect it from the 3 way distribution pipe to be able to lift the upper half away. Don't forget to unplug the fuel pump too! There's a few rubber O rings that will need transferring to the new filter housing, I show these in the video at the bottom of this write up. Reassembly is the reverse Here's a photo of the new filter installed, you'll be able to see where the tabs are more clearing against the yellow OEM plastic Once the assembly is re-installed, I turned the engine over a few times to help build up fuel pressure. I did panic when the car stopped turning over but I could hear the fuel pump making a noise. It eventually started and has been fine since.
