Im currently in the market for a S2/3 R33 GTR or an early R34GTR. Ive been looking at a couple and have come across some with over 125,000kms. They both have full log books and service history from Japan and are straight, clean, and generally appear well looked after. Both are stock standard. Initially I disregarded both of these vehicles as I told myself I wanted under 100,000kms, but the inclusion of the log books makes them appear more attractive, as id rather know they actually have 125,000kms on them than have a speedo with 60,000kms and have actually done 200,000kms.

So, my question is, how many kms is too many? Im looking at using it as a daily driver for work, so it needs to be reliable. Im happy to keep the regular maintenance up, its just major stuff im worried about.

Im also keen to hear from anyone who acutally has a R34 GTR with similar or more kms on it. Id love to know what sort of things you've had to fix.

Cheers,

David.

Look at the general condition of the car first , how many km`s last

I seen so many ppl buy a POS car just because it`s got low k`s without paying much attention to the condition of the car , a car may have high K`s but been looked after it`s whole life

well i personally would rather have a well maintained car with 100 000 on the clock than one with 20 000 thats been thrashed

check the car out properly if interior and engine are still in great condition km shouldn't matter too much

100% agree. Watch out for the Nismo 320kph dashes as they start from 0 when newly installed.

How easy do you guys reckon it is to falsify the original service records?

I would rather have one that has log books and proof that its been looked after than buy a potential lemon that has bee thrashed and has less km's on it.

If after a full check the engine is strong and the rest of the car looks straight and clean, k's shouldnt mater as much

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
