You wont believe it,my car has a major problem.I didnt have any problems on the cruise even after the hills run on Friday night.Sat morning i went out shopping and when i was heading home i was at a set of traffic lights when i went to take off my car started to die.I found just giving it abit of throttle it was alright but anything over 2500rpm she would start to die.Now she wont start at all.

I did a ECU check and it came up 55(all ok).I then took off the fuel hose that goes to the fuel rail and guess what NO FUEL being pumped through.Hmm does this mean that the fuel pump is stuffed.I cant hear it prime but i can hear the relay click after a few seconds when the ignition is on.

I`m going to fit another fuel pump in the next couple of days(BIG THANKS TO WHATSISNAME FOR THE SPARE PUMP) or maybe someone else may know of a different fault before i fit it.

Lucky it didnt go when we where halfway through the hills.

Matt

G'day Matt,

I dont know much about troubleshooting, but if you want to get hold of a good pump that wont let you down I have a spare bosch 044 motorsport pump(near new). It's probly overkill & it's

not cheap but if you are going to look for more power down the track it will keep plenty of fuel up to the engine.

Regards,

John.

Hi Matt,

I don't know if this helps but I remember having a similar problem once where there was a dodgy wire going to my AFM. I resoldered the wire and it seemed to have fixed the problem (as in the car not liking anything over 2500rpm, I'm not sure about the fuel thing though).

Des

Tim mentioned that there can be problems regarding the Bosh 044 pumps with the std fuel pressure reg.

Apparently due to the huge amounts of flow from the pump the std reg on idle starts build pressure hence over fueling on idle.

I had a Bosh 910 fitted that is external it was $210.

It will handle up to around 250rwkw apparently.

Enough for me.. :)

Well they cost over $500 new & this one has not had much use because the car has been off the road so much.I was hoping to get $400 for it! You should talk to Mark first about this 'cause it might be unnecessary for the set up you currently have.

Do you have std reg & injectors? Maybe a std GTR pump would be heaps.I think they go for around $200 but dont quote me on that.

When we took the R33 to Willowbank we were running 3 x 044 pumps!!! I also have a spare surge tank with fittings ($100) & a

number of other goodies for sale.

John.

Here is a list of some of the gear for sale.We have almost stripped

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
