Att: whiteline susp kit owners

Recommended Posts

Anyone out there go the Works package on their R32 GTSt???

If so are you having trouble with axle tramp thru 1st & 2nd gears.

It has never bothered me before as i dont generally go spining wheels, but in the next 4-6 weeks looking at punting the car down the 1/4 mile.

So decent traction would be nice, plus im scared im going to tear/break something as the axle tramp gets pretty voilent if i try to balance the wheelspin. If i just gas it and let it spin until it gets traction then it barely axle tramps, but is a hell of a lot slower.

soften up the rears... should get rid of it a little. I had the same issue (dont have a whiteline kit) with my suspension... the rear shocks were way too hard and causing massive axle tramp and it bounced like a mofo! ppl shit themselves when they were in it cause they didnt know what the hell was going on... softened the rears with turn of a dial... bam! a lot smoother.

Then it bounces all over the road when you're driving.. its hard to get a good balance.

You won't break anything via axel tramp, but its annoying I know. Think 33's might do it worse than 32's as well

Yeh damn annoying, and it may be a coincidence but i have sheared a lower rear left control arm, where the arm meets the tubular steel that encases the bush.

Got new ones and welded some gussets to ensure it doesnt happen again.

If budget permits in the next 2-3 months i am considering HKS coil overs, i was most impressed after having driven an R33 with them.

As for softening u the rear shock , that would require re-valvingmy Bilsteins, not very appealling. I may just live with it or continue to try different tyres.

I have the whiteline kit and bilstein shocks, and are also running the subframe pinapples, i dont have a problem with axle tramp, it has only happened a couple of time slightly when i stuffed my launch on the strip.

Ive got the subframe bushes as well, Whiteline actually used my car as the test bed for the R32 GTSt kit, so our cars should be close to identical suspension wise.

Can i ask what wheels and rubber are you using, are you using their recommended rear alignment settings

I run dunlop fm901 on the steet and run 540s when i drag my car.

I dont know the wheel alignment settings as im slack and have never got it dont, manily because im not in the process of making all new upper arms and hicas removal so everything will need to be done when it fit it all.

Hi, i got the whole whiteline package a while ago, i must have got it right after you tested it cause i got it for free labour and 25% of parts, since they were still checking out the settings and whether they could go lower....etc...

Anyway, i had very very bad axle tramp before the kit, but my shocks were pretty much rooted back then...

After the kit (with their recommended settings) i still had a bit of axle tramp sometimes with 17inch wheels and 245's at rear.

I have gone back to 16inch stockies, and dont really get much tramp at all but i havent really lauched hard for a while though...ask me on thursday ;p

In hind sight i should have gone for adjustable shocks instead, but its too late now for me...go adjustables...

Oh by the way, why does my car handle better with 16's??? and

205/55/16 tyres?

Before i got a 2nd set of 17s and big front brakes i use to borrow a friends stock 200SX wheels, my car felt terrible when using them.

So i take it your going to Eastern Creek on thursday? Ill be there but not sure in what capacity, my car needs a wheel alignment, new exhaust gasket, and new plugs, plus the usual fluid changes, so Wednesday night looks like being a late one.:D
