for those of you interested in cars at all or just want to see Dom getting to thrash his car on telly tune into FOX8 on Friday 18 January at 8:30pm (CST) for the World Premier of "Blood Sweat and Gears"

Car hosting role tempts Scott McGregor

Temptation hunk Scott McGregor will host a new Foxtel motoring show to discover Australia’s best car and the driver, Blood Sweat and Gears.

Seven finalists will compete in a series of challenges that will determine Australia’s best car driver over eight weeks. The grand final is played out in front of a crowd of 50,000 car lovers at the annual Spring Nationals in Melbourne.

McGregor is a bit of a car enthusiast himself. He loves taking his car for a drive along Victorias surf cast down The Great Ocean Road. Scott’s passion for cars and natural flair in front of the camera lead him to be selected as host of the show which launches on FOX8 January 18 2008.

BLOOD SWEAT & GEARS sets out to discover Australia’s best car and the driver behind the wheel.

After an extensive Australia wide search for the country’s best cars, seven finalists are chosen to compete in a series of challenges that will determine Australia’s best car driver over eight weeks of challenges. The grand final is played out in front of a crowd of 50,000 car lovers at the annual Spring Nationals in Melbourne.

The contestants are:

As well as showcasing the latest innovations in street car modifications, it will be a clash of egos as Australia’s most passionate car lovers will battle it out to be recognised as the best.

From the TURTLE WAX website (official sponsors)

The first series of Turtle Wax's Blood Sweat & Gears was filmed late last month in Shepparton Victoria to coincide with the Spring Car Nationals. With so many quality entries we were excited to take 8 of the best cars in the country and pit them against each other. But as we all know, in the car world things rarely go to plan - on the eve of filming one of the finalists pulled out due to car troubles and so we were down to 7. When the camera began rolling the competition was fierce and throughout the challenges the leader board remained tight.

The challenges undertaken were:

1. Driveability

2. Speed

3. Super Sprint

4. Advanced Driver Course

5. Motorkarna

6. Go to Whoa

7. Show N Shine

8. Dyno

With Challenge King Nathan Luck and Driving Guru Ian Luff as our judging team, every competitor was in for a true and fair appraisal of not only their ride but also their own driving abilities.

Thanks to all who entered, each of you will be receiving a Turtle Wax kit in the mail soon. Stay tuned over the coming weeks as we introduce our finalists and don't forget to tune in 18th January on Fox 8 as Blood Sweat & Gears hits the airwaves.

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
