It feels like a clutch pedal

Good news. The box is fixed and it wasn't something massive. The circlip and spring came off the end of the shaft and planted themselves elsewhere in the gearbox. The shaft now has a new circlip and a deeper groove machined to sit in to ensure it's not going to wander out again.

I want to say thanks to PAR for all their assistance and quick turnaround in resolving the issue ;)

It may arrive in time to be installed for the weekend, otherwise it should be back on the road early next week.

lol, I won't be there, at least not driving. Had my third drive tonight, it's going to take a very long time for me to perfect driving manual let alone driving it hard. Excuse the fact I've had my license 7 years, I'm pretty much learning to drive all over again.

183.3fwkw. Not quite as much as I was expecting but we think a few things are restricting it a little (intake and exhaust), boost drops off to wastegate boost pretty early on. O2 sensor hasn't been sorted yet so it's been tuned without one again until that's sorted. The entire loom section for the O2 sensor has been re-wired so it'll at least work once we get it in. Also split a CV boot on the dyno, messy!

Wow .. I learn't on manual, have only owned manual cars - I don't think I've driven an automatic more than maybe 30 minutes in my driving life. I've taught people to drive manual, but I honestly can't even imagine trying to learn to drive manual after mostly only ever having driven auto... good luck with it :) I think it will only improve your understanding of cars and handling - which I think is what you want to do :)

You're imagining right, it's hard. Especially since the car hasn't been running since the tune and I've got no manual cars to learn it at the moment. It's a very frustrating thing, because I can drive well in an automatic, I can drive fast and have done a fair bit of track work in an automatic and I'd say I was reasonably good at is, but this is like trying to learn to drive all over again after 8 years of having my license. I'll get there eventually but it's going to take me a long time.

Doesnt take too long to get the hang of manual.

<6 weeks after driving manual for the first time I passed my test (already had my auto license)

Getting the hang of clutches is tricky at first, then its easy.

Oh...and even with heavy duty clutches its not too different.

I had been on my manual license my about a year when I got the Ceffy with a heavy duty clutch, I stalled 3 times on the day I got it, and once after that reversing up my gravel driveway and that was it...When I jump in mates' cars with heavy clutches I struggle a bit, because the point of engagement is almost always different, as is stiffness, but again, bit of practice and you're all good.

Cheers. I'm about to buy another white car too. Unfortunately that means the '34 will be for sale in about 3-4 months time. She's served me well though :P

Woohoo, I has the Pulsar back. The problems:

  • Throttle was adjusted completely shut. No idea who on earth did that. This was the cause of the car trying to stall/stalling while backing off throttle and the cause of the rough idle.
  • Tune was using the wrong base image file - from an N14. This was causing the overfueling. It now makes 13fwkw more on the same boost - 196.2fwkw, shitloads more torque (617nm according to the dyno lol), the turbo spools much earlier and it makes much more power through the midrange. The hesitation at 4,500rpm is gone. It's quite insane to drive.
  • Hot start enrichment had too much fuel. This was the cause of the car stalling every time it was started warm.

This tune was on 16PSI, previous tune on 17PSI. More power with less boost :(

This will go in down the track when I have an O2 sensor (daughterboard with O2 sensor tune):

    • Hi guys, I've just bit the bullet on a forged rebuild for my 25det looking at making 600rwhp with the built engine. Having always been a butthurt for big brakes, I'd like to upgrade the fronts. I have looked at a few different websites, not have really stood out to me. What are some good quality front brakes, are the Attkd ones any good?    Thanks.
    • Went out for drive with Jackie for a while in the Mazda and whilst it was raining cats and dogs, the interior and boot are still nice and dry so the top and drains are working well to keep the elements out, winning
    • And yes would be going to tomei Japan for sure as it’s closer to me …
    • Yeah I heard the same. Might be hard to order one. But then I guess can go to hks or go to a more expensive n1 block with tomei. Guess will jump the hurdle once I get there next upgrade around. I can’t get work done in the states as the lead time will take for ever on top of shipping to Hong Kong.
    • https://www.platinumracingproducts.com/en-us/products/nissan-rb26-cast-blocks This is the solution I was thinking of. I would stay away from Tomei USA, their quality is a question mark to me. If you want an engine machined in the US contact Club DSPORT: https://clubdsport.com/ Tomei JP is probably fine but I recall they stopped doing pre-assembled short or long blocks. In general it's pretty tough to get any kind of RB26 block at the moment with Nissan so severely backordered.
