This is going along with my other thread trying to determine what could be causing my misfire issues. (not spark plugs or coil packs) shouldn't be R&R because I have an SAFCII and SITC to compensate for that.

So I was checking over the AVCR install the other day and I noticed a few things done wrong according to the manual.

In the first picture I've drawn in a couple of things, firsty the red line is a vacuum line that was still connected up and also the other nipple on the standard solenoid was not capped off. Could this have been causing a vacuum leak?

And also the coupler (ECU) connection was still connected..which I think would have been causing major problems with the standard solenoid still trying to communicate to the ECU? Correct me if I'm wrong..

So I fixed up all those problems and pushed the car to boost to 9psi and it sill started to miss however I'm thinking that could be because the SAFC & ITC have been tuned with the vacuum leak?

The things that make me think it would have been these mistakes in the install are the fact that the car misses on idle, not just higher in the rpms..

Opinions on whether these would have caused problems? Would vacuum have been leaking? Would the coupler connection cause problems?

(I've only driven the car a couple of times since fixing these things and it hasn't had a miss on idle like it did before and also when it was having its miss when it reached 9psi it didn't seem as harsh as it was before..that could be hopeful thinking though)

sounds confusing but here goes;

the map sensor (single input vac line) needs its signal past the turbocharger, so not near the airflow meter

on the stock setup there is a vac line behind the plenum, this line runs to the factory boost guage map sensor

you can unplug that and run that vac line to the AVCR map sensor (should be 3 wires and 1 vac line)

now that you have working manifold pressure signal you need to hook up the actuator (or boost solenoid)

this is the AVCR solenoid which has COM and PORT. the input signal needs to come from the manifold, usually there is a nipple on the std intercooler piping for this

this connects up to the solenoid and then the output of the solenoid runs to the turbo actuator. if you get this wrong it will run in unlimited boost so either way the factory boost guage or watch the boost display on the AVCR if its wrong it will fly past 1gkcm2 - this can be fatal

The AVCR pressure sensor is all hooked up correctly.

and its only spiking 1psi (is set to 8psi) but got it to 9psi the other night where it still started to miss.

the AVCR seems like its set up correctly now (vacuum lines etc)

i am having similar sort or missfire problems once my avcr was installed. im just trying to figure out what goes where to check it all, can anybody take a pic of there solenoids etc and where all the hoses are meant to connect to and post it up , if its not too much to ask?

cheers

then maybe we can save this thread with pic's in the forced induction section for anybody else who will come across these problems.

Ok, i found out mine had the same problem as so tred, i had a hose still connected to the standard boost solenoid and down to the pipe, so i chopped it off and blocked it off. seemed to run better but is still breaking down after trying to tuning the avcr, might be coil packs, but unsure yet. going to replace them in the near future.

can anyone tell me with the standard solenoid, once u have disconnected all the hoses from it, can u pull out the plug and just leave it disconnected or do u have to leave the plug connected and block off the 2 nipples with screws in the hose ends?

Does the standard computer still need to read what that plug is doing even though the standard solenoid isnt being used.

cheers

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
