Tee-CnC
im getting 18x8 at the front and 18x9 for my 33, i dont want to put 265 on the rear, i want my tyre to stretch abit. im thinking of putting 225 on the rear but not sure if it will be ok or should i go for 215? what about the front, 205? has anyone got some advice please let me know as my rims will be here soon Cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/209665-tyre-stretching/ Share on other sites
adam-__-
My advice is that if your wheels fit in the guards without stretched tyres, don't get stretch tyres. Get tyres that are best for the wheel's widths. Stretching tyres when it's not needed is becoming the new 'rice' mod in my opinion. R31 drift pig
215/45 on a 9 is nice stetch. But not needed IMO on the back of a 33. You want stretch? Move your 9's on the front with 215/45's and Get 10's for the rear and put 235's on them. stretching 205's onto 8's is really compromising grip/stability simply for looks. And it looks like poop anyways. Stretching 205's and 215's onto 8's and 9's respectivley is really just what adam said.... rice. I have 215's stretched on my 9's, but they're on the front, and needed for guard clearence. And being a High Performance tyre, they have thicker sidewalls and thus stretch less. R31 drift pig
I would put 215/45's on the front, and 235/45's on the rear. 265 on a 9 is simply too big IMO. 235's on 9's would have flat sidewalls, with little/to no stretch dependant on tyre Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/209665-tyre-stretching/#findComment-3711576 Share on other sites
Damo_R34
Im running 235's on my 17x9's, they dont look nanna spec parallel walls, and they dont look too stretched. blind_elk
Tyres are made to fit a particular rim size. And for a very good reason - it is the only thing connecting the car to the road. If you fit the wrong sized tyre to the wrong sized rim, you are risking the road-holding capability of the car, and therefore the safety of the car. Fit a tyre designed to fit the rims you have. (And the 45 profile for your fronts is to tall for a 18" rim. 45 profile is ordinarily run on a 17" rim) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/209665-tyre-stretching/#findComment-3713188 Share on other sites
